These are the results of my recent buy from Zee's. They're fairly clunky (I asked for them that way), and they have a rubber, quasi-dainite sole because I don't like leather. Unpolished right now, but I may touch them up soon and repost.

Difficult to make out in the photo is the John Lobb label on the soles. Zee's told me that those are genuine, but it's difficult for me to tell, and I don't see why John Lobb would distribute their soles to small custom Hong Kong shoemakers. (I like them a lot, though, regardless).

how are those welted? the welts look much sleeker than they did on mine.

Hmmm, yes, I think they are genuine JL soles. Why they have it, you have to ask them.
They are not welted, they are just blake stitched the sole.

Right, you have to specially request goodyear welting, and I didn't. I don't think that the shop they contract out to is particularly skilled at welts, and rubber lasts forever anyway. Good to hear that the soles are actual JL, although it's still a little confusing.
