What to wear under a wide neck sweater?

I have a sweater with a wide, round neck. What should I be wearing underneath? Something with a collar? Crisp white undershirt?

Hard to answer without seeing pictures.

Assume that when you say round neck you mean crew neck? If so, then yeah, you can never go wrong with a collared shirt underneath. If it's really that wide of a neck, then you don't have to fuss with the dilemma of keeping the collar in or out.

Some guys will do the white tee underneath but seems so tired (especially with v-necks).

Throwing on a tie is never a bad idea either.

I go for a button down shirt, e6matt. Wearing a shirt without a collar looks sloppy to me. I also agree with biasedcut about wearing a tie with your dress shirt. Try sharing your picture once you have decided about how you would want to wear your sweater.
