Is this literally on a yacht? What type/size?

At some point, the only appropriate clothing is that which keeps you warm, dry, and safe.

If the weather is nice i'd go for a SB Navy-Blazer, white trousers and spectators or boat-shoes. Don't forget a PocketSquare, maybe showing a little bit of couleur would be nice for that.

If you have a DB blazer with gold buttons, now's the time.

Any blazer with gold tone brass buttons would work. Cream or off white trousers if you have them. Otherwise, the lightest shade of gray you have.

White dinner jacket with a shawl collar lapel, but I also like the DB blazer idea.

You're going to want light, spring-y colors. The traditional colors for sailing tend to be white, navy, khaki and light blue, though red is a fine accent color. White pants, a navy blazer and a light blue shirt would look nice. If you look through the Brooks Bros casual side and J.Crew catalogs, you can probably find lots of good looks.

I'd also consult with your girlfriend about what she's wearing. You wouldn't want to upstage her or look out of place.

If you've got a specific outfit in mind, post it and I'm sure the experts here would be helpful.

Also +1

Since this is a sorority thing, the crowd will skew young, so I'd go for SB over the DB... but fold toned brass button navy blazer is dead on.

Thanks for all of the help guys. I think I am going with the Navy Blazer and some off white trousers, since I have the pieces already.

You really can't go wrong with the basics. From the way I understand this, it's basically a party on a boat that's going on a little harbor cruise, so that will work. If it's a parked Yacht Club event (on and off the boat party) or even a Yacht Club event, given the crowd, you'll still be more than covered.

Perhaps you should also recite a poem. Might I suggest this classic:

It's easy to grin / When your ship comes in / And you've got the stock market beat. / But the man worthwhile, / Is the man who can smile, / When his shorts are too tight in the seat.
