What do "subs" mean when marked on CJ shoes?

Obviously the price is much lower than average retail. The seller did mention that they were marked as "subs".

Does anyone understand what that entails? Would it be a waste to purchase a pair marked as subs?

Subs = not 1st grade. They have a defect of some sort.

Are they worth it? Depends on the defect in question.

Sausages234 is a reliable eBay seller. If he says that he can't see the fault, I would believe him. As the fault isn't visable, and they are what you're looking for, the current bid price seems OK.

The shoes will have been bought from the C&J factory shop. If marked as "SUBS", this means the shoes are "substandard" and cannot be sold as perfect. I've seen examples where I can't find the fault, to nicks in the leather, crooked seems or misaligned stitching. The shoes should last as long as a perfect pair.
