Amazing work!! Where did you buy that wax?? I am thinking of doing something similar... although I think something would explode if I do, a la Homer Simpson trying to fix Mr. Brun's breakfast LOL

Was that waxing difficult to do at all? I have a black Obey canvas jacket that I don't mind ruining, and I think it would work nicely waxed.

Just use the bar, not the jar. All the jar waxes (including the Otter Wax jar) are too loose and do come off. Filson might be great for touch-ups or sealing seams, but it's way too loose to wax a whole jacket. One bar of Otter ought to do it.

Plan for it to take a couple hours to wax, though it can be done in an hour. Get a hairdryer and heat up the area you've just waxed until it soaks in, especially around the seams. Do the whole jacket this way, then let it sit for a few minutes. Then go back and wax it cold until it's shiny.

Let it cure at least one night, hanging away from other clothes, before you wear it. I've heard of improperly-stored wax jackets (of the professionally-waxed variety, even) coming off on clothes and even permanently staining leather, but I hang mine in my closet pretty carelessly without event. I wouldn't store it stacked without putting it in a bag, though. It's never come off on my clothes just from wear.

@Chulillo Otter's made locally, so I just bought mine in a store, but I think you could buy it online from someone who will ship to Spain.

With the dye, just follow the directions and don't wear your good clothes. If it's uneven, dye it a second time, though I like the unevenness of mine; waxed, it looks uncannily like leather.

The stitches on the Rothco are poly and won't take dye, but the contrast looks cool to me.

If you wanna go ape, order some good buttons from B. Black and sew those on, but take the other buttons off before dyeing as they're on little straps that will leave light spots. Horn would be awesome, but will cost you more than the jacket.

I almost want to buy a cotton 5-zip and try dying it and waxing it.

Thing I like about the Rothco is it's just an unlined shell—great for warmer rainy days, and it layers great over sport coats. Size down, though.

The hood is too big stuffed in the collar and looks goofy, so I cut it out.

The rewaxing cold is good advice and duly noted. I'll have to post a fit with my DIY waxed jacket now, with the caveat that it's a little rougher... :)

@ridethecliche Do it. It's a fun project with a high probability of success.

SC's not my favorite for wearing with black jeans. I feel like that jacket calls for grey pants. Looks a bit too structured for black jeans no? I like the fit of this one a lot though.

You're probably just saying that because I'm not buttoning it.

For this for, the contrast between jacket and trousers is roughly similar to jacket and polo, but the lighting any great at showing that (gray would be too similar to the jacket's color I think?), maybe this other daytime picture shows the colour better. I'm starting to really enjoy a more modern tonal approach for city night casual.

Nice combo @NOBD It has been a while since I had seen any courduroy jacket I like... that one looks pretty good.

Tonight, a very casual week end get up... cold is slowly coming back... those high temperatures were not normal for this time of year :/

My SO Erica was looking over my shoulder while I was browsing this thread. We both agreed on the awesomeness of foxtooth's jacket. She also disagrees with the general disapproval of Isolation's haircut. She likes it, and reminded me of how I used to look:
