Curtis Stone is kind of a douche.

It was funny when he addressed all the contestants and said "As chefs, we all blah, blah"... Really Curtis - you're putting yourself on the same level as those chefs?

Yeah, I've never cared for him either. My first glimpse of him was some cooking show where he'd surprise a person at the grocery store, paid for the groceries, and went to their home and cooked a surprise meal for their spouse/family. Forgot what it was called. I also don't like him in America's Next Great Restaurant either. Actually, I don't for the show in general. But, WHY oh WHY did they have to put him in my favorite tv series?!?

And is it me, or is this season pretty dull so far. I haven't seen any stunning/fascinating dishes so far.

I thought most of the food last night looked pretty good. I think there might be a judge credibility issue. If we had watched Tom or Gail really rave about the food we'd be under the impression that it was probably a little better.

Watching TC Canada and TC Masters back to back as they are airing the same time, I can definitely tell the difference in the calibre of cooking between the two series, it's amazing.

Especially since I happened to download both 'cheese' episodes and watched it the same night.

I still enjoy it, but for some reason this season's roster seems like the B Team compared to earlier seasons.

Naomi has been a solid contender week to week, pretty impressive.

Agreed that it is a fairly lackluster line-up. My hunch is that they had a harder time fielding a strong set of chefs due to the new elimination style format. With the prior format, chefs only needed to commit to one day for the "play-in round" and then a couple days to film the final few eliminations. Now that they have gone to the regular Top Chef style elimination, it seems like the chefs need to commit to many more weeks.

Tracy is absolutely killing it. How is her restaurant in SF?

It's very good. A little long in the tooth, but very good.
