Actually, I'm done here as well. Just set my alarm for 515 am as my track season starts Monday and I don't need the negative energy of how useless and underworked I as. Best of luck to those in the profession, I feel that I may no longer have the ability to keep this up for much longrr

Are the the teachers posting in this thread the ones who need to be **** on? How productive is that? I'm all for constructive criticism but the last couple pages are just plain mean spirited. It sucks because KenRose and NYR are both experienced teachers in my subject areas that I hoped to hear from and about.

Well, I haven't **** on anybody here, in particular, but I can understand StephenHero's frustration over some of the self sanctified bullshit coming from one poster in particular. I don't necessarily think he was right to interject himself into this thread, but I can understand his frustration, since he too is required to underwrite a lot of bad teaching, and a lot of bad results, from people who constantly place themselves in a position in which they are required to be worshipped. I hope you guys don't quit this thread, as I find that some of the comments are interesting, and, in fact, I have come to like you more because of it than I do other places on the site. I will say that NYRanger has a major attitude problem, but unlike him, I don't hope that he loses his financial security or his job. I just hope he thinks about ways to produce better results like some of the other, more open minded, teachers in this thread.

Too bad. Was enjoying the thread. Effective teaching is an art. The data doesn't always add up. It's such an important job, I'm not sure why you guys need to defend yourself against the nonsense. Rise above it. Ignore it and keep posting the interesting stuff. Teachers, in my experience, can be a whiny lot, but on the whole, work their asses off and value quality time with kids. So many leave the profession early, and your pay down there is pretty ****, so stick together and continue to take great pride in your profession. That said, come back lads. Thx.

NYRanger, the troll I made in this thread much earlier wasn't meant to be taken seriously, FYI. I don't want anyone thinking I'm anything like Stephen, at all.

The bit about teachers choosing their own methods and materials is interesting. I guess they do not have pacing guides or curriculum maps. This is quite the opposite as I get the impression here that teachers will eventually teach material at the same time, use the same teaching method and administer the same test.

I got a promotion from Lecturer of English to Lecturer of Exercise Science, P.E. Coach and Club Coordinator. Less teaching hours, but more responsibility and higher paycheck.

Summer and winter vacations, I get to travel to other countries with students for sport activities for free.
