Fair enough. I actually hate those same cyclists even when I am riding my bike. I tend to drive a rental car quite often and I know what its like when ****** cyclists are taking up the whole road thinking they own everything, but I also know what its like to be a vulnerable guy on a bike hoping he doesnt die that day. I tend to try to ride my bike with the same mentality as when Im driving a car. Its unfortunate how many drivers as well as cyclists there are in Toronto ruining it for everyone. It also sucks that the mayor of Toronto is a fat ************* and he hates the idea of bike lanes. At least the few streets with bike lanes have even a small sort of semblance of organization to keep the bikes from getting run over by the cars.
I ride my bike through the odd red light but only after slowing down to assess the situation. When I know that there are no cars coming I will ride through but I would never chance blindly cruising through a red light with the hopes that I dont die. I also keep as far to the right as possible whenever I am on my bike.
Someone was just run over and killed the other day while riding in a bike lane here in Toronto. Its unfortunate that I have to leave my house every day thinking that I hope I dont get run over by someone who isnt paying attention. I have been very fortunate so far.
I can imagine. I ride a bike too and love it in the summer. I just can't stand the cyclists that ride in the middle of the road and thinks the rules of the road don't apply to them. I see so many cyclists riding on the street and they just blow through stop signs, don't signal when they are turning, etc. It gets a little out of hand here. Especially in Uptown, what some say is the hipster capital of the world. They literally clog the streets and won't let you through. Gets annoying, which is why I either avoid the area or park and walk.
