Starting to curse you guys for luring me into getting nice socks haha. I honestly have no idea how you guys wear thick Chup socks in some of your stuff. I guess I sized my shoe/boots based on what I was typically wearing before and now literally find some of my footwear too uncomfortable with thick socks.

In my 7.5D Barrie shoes I am kind of ok with them, a bit snug but not uncomfortable, I suspect I will get a bit of give once the shoes get use to the thicker socks. I can't size up to an 8D as it causes too much heel slip because of my narrow heel.

In my 7.5D Barrie boots however I am totally uncomfortable in the thicker socks, obviously due to Barrie boots fitting smaller and my Barrie shoes already nice and snug. I think it is going to be best to actually size up to an 8D to allow room for thicker socks. It makes sense in that I like thicker socks with boots plus I shouldn't experience heel slip in them. Sorry to all the 8D boot boys as you will have some more competition now for upcoming orders. I guess that also means I may need to try an 8.5D in Grant.

That all being said, wearing Leffot Tankers today with thin dress socks [IMG]. I might actually have to consider selling these off now if I can get in on an 8D at the next preorder.

I was going to bring up the same point burzan brought up. It one has a good fit with thin dress socks, it's very uncomfortable to use Chup socks in the same pair. Chup socks and thin socks such as pantarella are probably a half size apart.

It honestly sounds like less trouble to just be conscious of what socks you're wearing with any given shoe, opposed to selling off and acquiring anything shell. I wear A. Gammarelli socks and I'd say the cotton blend is a medium to thin whereas the wool is thin, I just keep it in mind and keep the wool and cotton ones serperate in my closet. My non shell shoes are much more forgiving on my sock choices, though. Those tankers look legit.

you need a wider boot size for thicker socks, not a longer size.

Sounds to me that you are an 8D, Barrie. I can wear both thicker and thin socks in either 8D shoes or boots. Obviously our feet aren't identical, but they sound similar.

I love that we've pretty much come to the conclusion that Barrie lasted boots are TTS.

    Hurray.

A size up would accommodate both extra length and some width, both would be required with thicker socks as a sock covers all parts of the foot. Am I totally wrong for thinking that?

See below for my sizing issues lol. I do think an 8D boot would good though.

To be honest you are probably right. 8D Barrie shoes fit me well everywhere but the heel, I sized down to avoid heel slip and they work but yeah I think if I just had a slightly wider heel the 8D would be good. I am kind of an inbetweener in that my foot is about a 8.25D so a 7.75D Barrie would probably be perfect hahaha.

I think those cases are very few and far between. Burzan also says that his Barrie derbys are a little tight. Sounds like he is a tweener.

It can work either way, but if the length is comfortable for you, then one size wider would help. If your toes are snug, then 1/2 size would probably work. I wore 7.5D Barrie boots and realized it was too tight as well. I've decided now to go with 7.5E in boots and stick with thicker socks. Just more comfortable. The 8D just felt too long, but the width was ok.

I'm gonna try for a size 8D in the Ryden boot preorder tomorrow so may have to follow some of the other Canadians and go DNB for a while after that.

Unless of course I try and unload some stuff.

Unless I ban myself from the forum I don't see myself lasting more than a few months tops haha. I can try though.
