RTP, you have forgotten MO - Kansas City, specifically:

How come the heel stack doesn't look as high as most commando soled boots?

Never had Uncle Lou's fried chicken but Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room's fried chicken in Savannah is incredible!

I'm a native San Antoniam living in NYC, and sacrilege though it may be, Fette Sau in Williamsburg Brooklyn is the best BBQ I've ever had.

For Tex-Mex, I've not had anything that trumps La Fogata on Vance Jackson in Alamo City.

Rendezvou was pretty good, I would also recommend the joint in nola, big mikes in houma la, shed in biloxi and archibalds in tuscaloosa.

These arrived today. I preordered these a while ago and for some reason, didn't have the normal excited anticipation when a pair of new boots come in. But once I put them on, I was really pleased. I bought these to be kind of beater boots that I can use for travel and not worry about weather, etc.

These are actually my first Aldens with a commando sole. I am surprised that they're way more comfortable than I expected. Much more comfortable than the commando soles on my Vibergs or Carminas. I wonder if it's the Alden rubber compound as they're not actually the Commando brand, are they? Just Alden's version.

Going to have to send the Leffot tobacco chamois captoes back. The Plaza last just doesn't seem comfortable to me. Must not be designed for my foot. Too bad they don't do refunds. Guess my next Alden purchase will have to be from there.

On the bright side, I did pick up a new pair of Cigar chukkas today.

Not sacrilege - it's all about technique, the meat, and your mood. I swear a local joint to me (50miles N of NYC) had better brisket than OK Joes - but that was a long time ago. The place expanded and quality went way down. Places that crank consistent BBQ are marvelous, in more ways than one; it's not easy to be consistently excellent.

    Thanks for the visual confirmation.

Kansas City was one of my favorite stops this year.
I was only there for 2 nights. I went to Gates and Fiorella Jack Stack for dinner and a local joint outside of town that used to be a train station for lunch both days. Damn good in MO!

Some pre-loved Cigar Indy's arrived today...trubalance last...looks a little goofy in the indy to my eye but I could not be happier with the purchase. They were a J Gilbert run and an A/C size...they are a 1/2 size larger than my other Barrie Indy's and I think I like the A/C better. Gave them a quick wipe down and brushing.

Today, my last day at work for the year! Alden x JCrew Ravello LWBs. AE Candy Cane Laces. CHUP "Snowflake" Socks. RRL Raw Denim and a Green JCrew Sweater. Unfortunately, I won the Ugly Christmas Sweater competition today, mainly cause I was one of two wearing a sweater and I am the boss... :-(
