Today, Alden for BB Medallion CTB with charcoal gray suit...
Great looking shoe my friend. So, is this considered an Alt Wein? Is it the same shoe that Epaulet recently released (which had an antique edge)?:slayer:

I agree with everything RTP wrote with the exception of the fatiguing part - I often wear boots at work (in an office) and I haven't found them to be any less comfortable than a shoe. The only time I really notice I'm wearing boots instead of shoes is when I'm walking down stairs.
Agree with this...even on stairs I can't tell the difference

gosheik: I'm also interested in hearing if you think having a chukka and a cap toe boot in the same color cordovan has felt a bit redundant/too similar, and perhaps would avoid it if you could do it all over again.

Felt like buzzing around town with a cigar today. A LWB cigar.

great cigars! How did you get the fly to sit still on your shoe?

Thank you, Sir. I truly love this pair of shoes. And - that was actually a bee of some sort. Look at the large version of the photo. He (she?) and a friend kept landing on my shoes, just sitting there. Could it be the attraction of Aldens?:nodding: Or possibly Saphir Renovateur?:nodding:

restoration project I found these two pairs on ebay. for cheap. I got them back yesterday from the restoration and im very happy with the results. the #8 shell bounced back like new. the textured leather pair is much better than before and feel like new. I did not expect the leather pair to return so dark, but I really like the way they look on. The folks at alden even printed the model #s on the green boxes for the return, I thought that was a nice detail. I asked around, no one seems to know much about the leather nsts. I think nsts are expensive to make, maybe they only do it for shell now.
Did the restoration involve any work on the interior ... e.g., replacement of the full-length leather insole or perhaps just the logo'd heel pad? I'm also considering the purchase of pre-owned Aldens for restoration, but I don't want to be stuck with the original insole that may will have been soiled and imprinted by the previous owner.

The restoration will come with a new heel pad reading "Alden Restoration." The original insole will remain as is - imprint and all. I have had full restorations/recrafts done at Alden, AE, and BNelson, and none of them come with a new insole.

You are correct. Just the heel pad is replaced
