Danke - I'm really loving them - my first pair of Aldens from Alden of SF. They were an impulse buy when trying to eyeball some 975's for the first time...

I've got some space-issues impending with probably two more Alden boots added to the closet (I really only have room for the four boots I've already got because of the shoes and shelf-height requirements), but every time I look at the beguiling and ever-changing Natty CXL I'm re-committed to find a maritally-compatible way to have six pairs of boots in my closet/rotation (currently three Alden boots and a pair of JCrew beater-boots).

Digging the Cigars! That shade or Ravello in a LWB is my ultimate...

Very nice! Alden DC is the one near my house. I've been meaning to swing by for months, just never could find the time. I will postpone my loafer stretching project until I find out what they have to say. Hopefully they will be great to me as well.

Would like to hear from heavy users - I sent Unlined Suede Chukka to my journalist/editor fiancee and she loves it, I wonder with her beating, how long will the waterloc sole last?

Unfortunately I feel like that's a question which won't get many answers.
It could really depend on too many variables to give an estimate I'd think. I would recommend keeping an eye on the soles for her and proactively replacing them for her, if she's the type that wouldn't do so on her own.
Very cool to hear of more and more women rocking Aldens these days!

True, but now I am really wanting Ravello and whiskey. I would buy yours in a heartbeat if I would somehow get my 11 EEE into your 8Ds you have for sale. Maybe if I got a running start?... foot powder?.....

So I wear a 7.5E in both the grant and plaza last. Anyone have any experience going up a half size to be able to order from in stock sizing? Tempted by some 8d shoes but not sure if they'd work out for my width or if the length would be bothersome

7.5E is wider than 8D. I say don't spend the money on a shoe that almost fits.

If you take 7.5E in Grant and Plaza, you could try 7.5D in Barrie (or Trubalance). In many cases, sizing down a width in Barrie is actually preferable to sizing down in length.
