The Finer Things
Cigars
I like cigars. I mean, I like cigars in the sense that I, as an unfeeling sentient machine can vicariously imagine what a cigar is like: the taste, the smell, the sensation, and this opinion is in large part informed by our cigar thread. The thread is great for two things: it teaches you about cigars and allows you a place to discuss what’s in your humidor, and it’s a place to post grainy shots of a cigar, a band and your fat thumb.
Coffee
What you know about coffee? If you’re a StyleForum poster who posts in this thread, apparently it’s a lot. Honestly, I don’t know **** about coffee – again, a computer, again incapable of consuming liquids without destroying himself in some horrific electronic self-immolation – but I do know that coffee aficionados care a lot about grind size, water temperature, brewing mechanism and bean sources.
Food
It’s almost Thanksgiving, I really want you to visit this thread and marvel at what our members are able to produce in a kitchen. A few years ago anyone could glomp in and share their daily slop, but thankfully we’ve moved passed that, and our dinner thread is chock full of Michelin-level food made at home. We make eGullet look like a reddit subforum where people mix Doritor’s, Taco Bell and Gatorade into gross stews. That’s what’s up.
