Canons and Emiko Matsuda, the finest work of anyone imo, their shoes always stand out the most to me. Fukuda is up there too. True shoe magnificence that takes one's breath away.

Emiko's fits must be pretty amazing, she worked with Terry for 20 years. Has anyone ever used her?
I have not…I would love to though. If ever a trip to Tokyo or the UK aligned! I wonder how long a first pair would take?

Here is my version of this shoe, sadly it lacks the brogued strap, but it makes up for that with everything else. A stunning shoe in person.

I scheduled and then cancelled a fitting in London with Emiko mainly because of the logistics. I like what I have seen and heard of her work. She does not travel to the western US like the three shoemakers I have commissioned so far.

and l do this instagram thing recently, and am shocked at the great work of all these shoemakers. Even more shocking is all the people who are into midend and highend dress shoes. Never had any idea there are so many men into shoes. I see men posting photos of their dress shoes, and am amazed people like this exist in the world. Is this shoe obsession caused by the internet?
The Internet no doubt makes information more readily available and facilitates the scheduling and commmunication with shoemaker brands and trunk shows including bespoke. I have always liked and enjoyed well crafted things--just couldn't afford to have many of them as a younger man. I dress and choose shoes for the occassion and myself. For the most part, I keep quiet about what I pay for clothes and shoes. I more or less subscribe to the "quiet luxury" concept and I have thought this way long before I saw this label bandied about online. I won't buy much of anything with highly visible logos. I just don't want to roll that way.
