I think your bombast is scaring away potential players Slim.

Maybe.

I had always somehow assumed that it was your fault.

Who are you, my Dad?

You need therapy.

Oh trust me, this is me, post-therapy. This is as good as they could get me. And yes, I am your dad. And I'm very disappointed in you, son.

OK... seriously.

Start PMing people who might want to play.

We have seven teams. (and we need an even number!) I'd like to have at least ten, preferrably 12 ...

the league is currently set for 14.

Maybe we should start a new thread to let everyone know about the new league?

I know the title of this thread has been changed to "2008" but people who are used to seeing the 2007 thread at the top of the page might just skip it...

I think it went rather well actually...

C: Jarrod Saltalamacchia
1B: David Ortiz/Mark Teixeira
2B:Chase Utley/Placido Polanco
3B: Ryan Zimmerman/Mike Lowell/Hank Blalock
SS: Troy Tulowitzki/Khalil Greene
OF: Nick Markakis/Corey Hart/Pat Burrell/Raul Ibanez

SP: C.C. Sabbathia/Aaron Harang/Tim Lincecum/James Shields/Oliver Perez/Boof Bonzer

RP: Joakim Soria/B.J. Ryan/Hideki Okajima

I won't get 50 saves... but I feel pretty good everywhere else. And RP's are easy to come by halfway through the year.

Week two Steve... you step face first into the meat grinder. I hope you are ready! Better hope nothing bad happens to any of your players between now and then, cause your bench is GARBAGE!!!!

You drafted pretty well, Slim.

For you.

The ONLY places you're stronger are 1B and 2B.

Got news for ya- there are 10 batting positions.

And your pitching is laughable.

We'll see how Slim Pickin's does this year.

Here's my team, for comparison purposes:

C Victor Martinez (Salta- who?) adv Steve
1B- Garret Atkins adv Slim
2B- Chone Figgins/Theriot- adv. Slim
SS- Young/Theriot tie (although Slim will disagree- Young had a bad year in 07, Greene had a career year, and Tulo=Clint Barmes)
3B- David Wright/Atkins/Figgins adv Steve
OF- Guerrero/Francoeur/Pierre/Rowand/Taveras adv Steve
Util- Thome adv Slim

BTW Slim- ever heard of players who can play more than one position?

Pitching-

SP- Webb/Verlander/Chris Young/Buerhle/Zito
RP- Jenks/Marmol/Jones/Turnbow/Bettancourt/Broxton/Todd Jones

Way I figure it we'll be about even in batting categories and I'll seriously spank you in pitching.

Whatever you say. According to any reasonable statistics, whether you look at last years numbers or this years projections, I have more than that. You admitted as much in the post above.

Yeah, and only eight pitching positions... so whats your point?
And your pitching is laughable.
Laughable? Thats funny. My starting pitching rotation had more wins than yours, pitched 200 more innings - with only a tenth higher ERA, A whole collective point lower WHIP, a strikeout and a half more Ks per 9, and only two less quality starts last year, and one of my guys was Tim Lincecum who only played about half a year. Look it up... Sounds like you overpaid for your pitching *****.
We'll see how Slim Pickin's does this year.
I guess we will. The one and only area you should kill me in is steals, and I will gladly give them to you, because I have a deeper more balanced team and you are fragile and speed heavy. I am taking bets to see how long the rest of the league thinks you will have a healthy squad for. And I would have had to trade down talent to get more "utilitarian" players Steve. Should I have picked worse players who can play other spots?
