Hi folks - I'm new to the world of C&J, but I went big with my first purchase. I just got a pair of Audley's in Dark Brown. I could use a recommendation on what color of Saphir cream polish to use. I don't want to darken the shoes any, so I think that the natural choice of Saphir Dark Brown would be a bit too dark. If anything, I wouldn't mind if the shoes got a little lighter. I'm thinking of either Medium Brown or Tobacco. Does anyone use either of these on their dark brown antique C&J's?

Also, I remember reading somewhere that some people think Saphir is too deeply pigmented to use on the kind of leather you find in a handgrade C&J or Edward Green. Any merit to that sentiment? I asked a salesman about this in a store that carried Edward Green and he looked at me like I was an alien.

Glad we're helping each other out. I was also looking at those, but was unsure of sizing. I tried on a pair of the Brooks Brothers Captoe Cordovan boots in my Brannock size and they were too large.
