This was a comforting post. I am beginning the same journey and really investigating my fit which has led me to just give up on the 325 although there are many styles that I really like and I own three shoes in it.

It is the Islay that fits my feet really well also. After two months of experience it surprises me how good it feels. I tested in the C&j Brussels store (really nice service btw.) to still go down half a size to get it even more snug and it seemed to work. If I decide to go for another Islay (or maybe Kelso) it will be half a size down.
My journey in early 2023 was a bit of an epiphany. Finding that I preferred a half a size down in the Islay, over what was already excellent in my OG size 9’s… but it started with the wayward, weird, things not feeling right in the 335 Skye… I’d never have gone down the rabbit hole otherwise. It’s a journey worth getting right.

I am sure the C&J quality will be amazing. I tried their belts and they are beautiful if I wear a belt with tailored trousers (which is all too rare)…

Can I provide a very whole hearted recommendation for https://www.barnesandmoore.co.uk/ if you are looking at belts and wallets, beautiful artisan construction and amazing leather choices. I am a very satisfied customer over multiple, multiple purchases…

I used to like the idea that C&J do JUST shoes and boots. Solid and straight. Thats it. Personally i dont like the idea of a shoemaker venturing into wallets, bags etc. These are all byproducts of the leather they source (for shoemaking) and a means of reducing wastage (leather) and turning it into a profit line. But ofcourse, you cant blame a company for wanting to experiment or make a profit...... Again, its just a personal view.

Visible Pick Stitching on Lapels and Pockets

  • It’s a mark of quality and craftsmanship

  • I like it when it’s subtle

  • I don’t like visible stitching

  • Doesn’t matter to me
