A little OT, but I was thinking about getting the JCrew peacoat because its seems like pretty good material/warmth and I can get it for 30% off (friend works there). However, I want a more fitted coat. How hard/expensive would it be to turn the straight/boxy peacoat into a more fitted coat?

Saw the new cloak peacoat at hollywood trading company this past weekend, definitel a nice piece. I think Scott over there is offering a little discount too, on brand new merchandise that's unheard of. It is gorgeous.

If I remember right, the Cloak peacoat was about $1100 on sale....the W&H peacoat was around $300+

i tried on the cloak peacoat while in manhattan a few weeks back just for ***** and giggles but it was absolutely the best coat, with the best fit, with the best construction i've ever had the opportunity to try on. for the $1500 asking price i quickly walked away but when i saw that HTC was offering it for $1100 i started to think crazy thoughts. i'm still trying to find a slim fitted, mid thigh peacoat that has a subtle bells and whistles to jet it apart from the standard issue model. under a grand would be nice. *sigh*

I bought a peacoat from H&M, but not that one. I tried on the one pictured, but didn't like it- too stiff and way too busy for me. It has all this odd detailing on the back, and it's not slim fitting. The one I bought IS a slim fit, has a great modernized wide collar, soft fabric (for a peacoat), and is still a *basic* looking peacoat. It's the L.O.G.G. version, and it was only $70, I love it!! Tried on 4 other peacoats (elsewhere) that were more expensive, but i honestly like this one better.

Thats the one i got. It seems H+M have a few different versions but the LOGG one is the nicest. Mine hits mid thigh and has no "fussy" detailing on it which i like

this one is perfect (to me) other than the navy color and the price.

That first pea coat is alittle expensive. The second one is sold I think. I don't think you can get the inapt ones anymore, and they are pretty thin from what I have read. I don't know if that matters to you. I tried on the J. Crew one. It is boxy, and the small was not small enough. I tried on one at H & M. I am not sure if it is the one you are talking about, but that one fit a lot better than the J. Crew one, but it was black, and I didn't see any grey ones. They do have a navy blue one though, and that fit good too. I ended up buying an oxford grey Sterlingwear pea coat. You can see it here http://styleforum.net/showthread.php...hlight=peacoat and here http://sterlingwear.com/ The pea coats from Schott seem good too. You can see those here http://www.rakuten.ne.jp/gold/jalana...t/740size.html and here http://www.schottnyc.com/index.cfm Hope this helps!
