Hey, I have Khaki colored pants with a sweater thats kinda chekered patterned between light and dark browns, mainly dark brown. I have a tie that has kind of a nail head pattern with light and dark browns. I do have a shirt thats base color is a cream/beige color w/ brown stripes, but IMO it looks like too much brown so i was thinking a dark/olive type colored green shirt. Would this be a no-no, or would it work?

thanx for the help

Whatever suits you - you have to wear it not anyone on this board.

Yes, but, see, he is asking for advice, which is what others here have provided.

I concur with light blue. It will look great, and much better than cream with that combination.

I'm wearing basically the same colors today as you describe... with a light blue shirt. One more vote for light blue.

Don't rule out pink until you've checked it out. Yellow oxford cloth might also be OK, depending on the sort of brown.

But, yes-- light blue is unlikely to be bad and will probably be very good.

I think that the dark/olive green color might be too strong for this outfit. How about a neutral like white or cream? Light blue seems to be the default shirt color that people recommend to go with just about everything. I'm in the minority with regard to light blue with brown -- I don't like it very much.
