It depends on preference.  If it were me, based upon my experiences and style, for standalone wear I'd go with the following:

grey: comix all the way.  Classic
1st white:  silk blend.  Classic
2nd white:  U neck  (you may find you want the u neck in comix, but depends on if you want a non drape fit as the standard tees drape better than comix)

i would get the comix white, regular white, and grey u-necks.i love them on their own. I prefer the mercers just for layering with the hoodies.

Is the inseam really 35"? Crazy stacks. Would like to get them shortened but don't want to mess with the selvedge.
