Hey guys, I need ideas for a shirt & tie & pocket square combo for prom. I have a mid-gray coloured suit and my date's dress is a lavender. I was thinking a lavender coloured shirt. But then what colour for the tie & pocket square? Also what kind of patterns should I do? Thanks

There are many, many threads on this. Do not match your date's dress unless this is your only chance of getting a Happy Ending.

Don't match your shirt and tie to your date's dress. If you absolutely need to match something, buy my lavender pocket square. I'll make one just for you, since they are all sold out at the moment.

Don't match if you can avoid it. Mayne you can placate her with cuff links...

Try not to match. But If you have to, I would go with light lavender color shirt. very very light color.

I was in a similar situation a little while ago.

I would go with something simple and reserved. Its never the wrong thing to go for something straightforwards and classic. White shirts are never the wrong thing.

Its good that you care how you look, but don't make it look like your trying too hard. Prom is really about her after all (at least where I am).

Seriously though, If you care enough to bring it here, and you even know what a pocket square is, you will be ahead of 90% of guys there.

As long as your suit fits you well, your golden.

Good luck
