ok, so this should not be as complicated as it is turning out to be.

a while back, i was having my suit sleeves altered to a standard length giving me about 3/8" of shirt showing. since that time, ive lost about 15lbs.

now i have like a full inch of shirt showing and obviously that looks ridiculous.

wtf is going on? how did losing weight cause this disparity. i dont mind having them all made longer again, but i dont want to have to adjust this every time my weight fluctuates a few lbs.

thanks

I can certainly imagine this happening, I had kinda the opposite, after I started working out some of my shirt sleeves seemed to become shorter. Not sure of the exact reason but it's probably just to do with more/less mass across the upper back or across the shoulders. I doubt there's much you can do to avoid this happening, other than maybe getting your cuffs narrower so they stop at the base of your hand regardless of length.

that might be the case, but you would think that would somewhat similarly affect the suit, no?

Wouldn't the wool be heavier and thus less likely to drop a bit if you lost a bit of mass in the upper body? A shirting weight cotton on the other hand probably doesn't have the same structure and may seem to grow in length relative to the suit as a result.
