Fading color on toe box (10 year old Allen Edmonds) - how to fix?

Hi all,

I have a 10 year old pair of allen edmonds where the color is fading pretty significantly on the toe box. These are relegated to my "beater" / bad weather shoes at this point, but I do like them so wanted to see if there was any way to restore / fix the coloring on the toe box, or is this normal? I've tried using brown polish but doesn't seem to make a difference.

I might be able to help you save these and make them brilliant again.

First some questions:

You mentioned brown polish. What brand and type of polish? (i.e. wax, cream, etc.)

How frequently have you polished them?

How do you apply polish and then shine the shoes? (i.e. brushes, cloths, daubers, etc.)

Aside from polish, do you clean and condition them? If so, what products do you use?

Be as specific as you can, and if you don't remember everything, that's okay!

I restore leather shoes. Based on your reply, I might be able to tell you how that happened, how to fix it, and how to prevent it from happening again.
