Does this overcoat run too big? I’m a 36 wearing a 38 coat.

The coat looks fine unless you prefer a more slim look. The biggest issue, though, is the sleeves—you would need to add at least an inch to their length.

I'm guessing this is a thrifted coat? It's possible the sleeves were tailored that way by the previous owner. Overcoat sleeves should come down between the heel of your hand the your thumb knuckle, and completely cover a suit cuff.

I think the shoulders are a little too wide, but older overcoats have padded, squared-off shoulders so that could just be the style of the coat.
