Of course she wouldn't know glamour. The more I read about these types of things, the more I long to confine myself to those old haunts of HM King Zog.

My fave. quotation from the article:

"This would never happen in France. There would be a revolution."

I love how the writer called her plan a 'scheme.'

If she had a moustache she would be twirling it.

These draconian bans have made their way to Philadelphia.

Okay, here's the break down.

Lucky Strikes -- Good for the first time, a pack gets old.

Parliment Lights -- Pretty good, don't taste as good as marb lights, though.

Camel Turkish Silvers -- Don't have any taste.

Camel Turkish Jade -- Best menthols I've ever had, but that isn't saying much. They still aren't my kind of cigarette.

I think that if they advertised the symptoms of lung cancer instead of saying 1 million people die of it a year would make the anti smoking commercials a lot more effective.

They should show pictures of the lungs of real smokers. Those are pretty horrifying.

woo, time for a cigarette battle!
my choice would be luckies and parliaments (i like full flavors better than lights but only for smoking a couple)
i think menthols are foul and marb lights are the sawdust of cigarettes. although i agree that turkish silvers dont taste like anything, haha.
WORD UP.

There's an anti-smoking ad on television showing a doctor squeezing the fat out of a dead smoker's artery. Pretty nasty. Anti-smoking ads in the UK are also pretty repulsive. And if I recall, Canada puts pictures of cancerous lungs and mouths on packs of cigarettes and chewing tobacco.

LK made the observation that the cig. warnings on French ciggies -- a white block with black lettering in caps such as "Fumer Tue" -- or smoking kills, was a kind of (or at least like) pop art. I agree.

The US has dinky little warnings, usually in a color that doesn't contrast much with the colors of the box or packet. I wonder if the more noticeably the warning, the less affective that warning is; however counter-intuitive that may sound.

It is very much art. It's so Post Pop, it's almost comical.

American things never have the artistic sensibility of their Old World counterparts.

Recently I bought Turkish Specials, which I like.

I must say, I agree with the camp that says smoking is, in a way, cool.

The accessories are classy, and can add a really unique element to a person's persona. I've always loved the taste, the smell, and the experience of each cigarette. I've found that it fits in well whether I'm building a custom car with my best friend or discussing politics and fine wine with my fiancee.

However, due to recent events (a close family member was diagnosed with cancer), I've been smoke free for over 72 hours now. Yes, I miss the sensation and ritual of smoking, but I still have my rather large collect of hand-rolled cigars to satisfy my urge to relax and contemplate life while enjoying tobacco.

I hold no ill will towards smokers, as I was a smoker for some time, but I could no longer conciously do something with such a high risk factor, after seeing the all the heartbreak and trouble that cancer can bring to a family.

Besides, I'm easily addicted to most things, and knew that if I didn't quit while my mind was still reeling from this recent situation, I'd be hooked for decades to come.

For the record, I was a dedicated Camel Lights smoker, for the most part, though I greatly enjoyed Dunhills, Lucky Strike Unfiltered, and the occasional hand-rolled cigarette (often rolled with my Nightcap pipe tobacco if I didn't have any rolling tobacco around).

I'm a regular smoker, about 5-8 sticks a day.

My preferences:

- Belmont Mild
- Dunhill International Regular
- Davidoff Lights
- Camel Turkish Mild
