Hey, I need some inspirational pictures for tie/shirt and perhaps even shoe matchings for a chocolate brown suit. What are some do's and dont's? The suit is in a fairly light fabric, is it okay to wear dark brown in the summer? Thank you guys! Edit: The suit also has a very feint windowpane pattern with blue and dark red. But if I were to match with those colors it would only be visible at a really close range. (perhaps that's good?) [IMG]

I think light blue shirt + navy tie would be one of the best combos.

    Try a white/beige shirt and a blue/red tie. Sorry, I don't have any pics..

I love brown and I have a great brown herringbone suit from Mr. Ned. I've been known to wear it with:

    Pale blue dress shirt
    Pale lavender/pink dress shirt
White dress shirt with brown and beige stripes
    Royal / white gingham shirt
    Camel tan turtleneck sweater

Would work in the evening with a black turtleneck, too.

Damn good advice guys, thanks! [IMG]

I'll get a new camera tomorrow, will take some pics on my suit then. It's too bad I only have white pocket squares if I'm gonna wear blue/pink shirts to the suit though.

That's fine, actually. Matching your pocket square to your shirt is way overrated. But you can always go to TheTieBar.com and get some more interesting squares for $8.

Nobody answered your question about shoes. Generally, a brown shoe that is darker than the suit will be fine. Black shoes can work too. Lighter brown shoes are trickier.

I have a MTM chocolate brown suit and often pair it either with a pink , light blue or a cream shirt.
For shoes, I stick to dark brown.

Idem. Cream shirt and green tie looks good. Pink shirt with a tie with a shade of brown different than the suit's.

    ahem...

use your imagination here... picture the Sportscoats at suits, or reverse the items (brown tie becomes a brown suit) for color combos...

personally I love orange, maroon, and green for tie/sweater/shirt colors but that's just me.

Somebody told me that blue doesn't go with brown and a lot of these pics show me how wrong he was.

My rage when TheTieBar has some awesome looking PS's but the shipping to Sweden is $25.. I guess I'll buy in bulk with some friends. (As if I have friends wearing pocket squares...damn)[IMG] [IMG]

I've been running some experiments in that area myself:
