2 recent finds from the Cheaney factory shop.

From their sample sale. Nice soft leather.

The photo doesn't really do these suede brogues justice. Very pleased with them. The soles are labelled 'Foster & Son London '.

I find myself using my commando soled boots less frequently these days because I get irritated having to constantly pick gravel out of the cracks.

True, they're not ideal for snowy conditions - not that we get much snow in southern Finland these days. Ridgeway soles are the way to go. I've been using my Bexley Enfield's quite a bit. Not exactly a high quality boot, and an absolute bastard to break in, but the sole is excellent.

Pennine IIRs on a frozen river. These are steadily becoming my most frequently used footwear.
Nice pic!

scrwl, how did you size your Pennine II regards to your Tricker's? I know they are very roomy but are they still true to size (like the Tricker's 4497S and W2287 or the 325 and the 228 from C&J) ?

I wear the same size with same socks in these (4436 G) and Tricker's 4497S fitting 5. For my wideish feet both are comfortably snug with merino wool socks.
The Tricker's 4497S might be a tad longer than the same size in Pennines. Don't know if the Tricker's being shell makes any difference.
no experience of the W2287 or the C&J lasts (yet).

Kiitos scrwl! The type of leather does not make any difference I have Stow and Parade boots in both shell and cordovan ans it's only about the size, the with + the last.
Your answer is consistent with my other inquiries, I should stick to my usual UK size.

I just wish I could find them on sale now...

Cheaney Deal today. I thought I'd try them with some denim - I think it works.

New to SF. I feel Cheaney shoes are a bit underrated overhere. I own a few pairs and i really like them, their lasts seem to fit me very well. One of my favourite pairs:
