Gaslamp = overrated tourist area IMO.

Winansea is the classic CA asshole slash-your-tires surfer break. La Jolla cove is one of the prettiest spots on the west coast.

I like most of the sushi places on convoy as well as garnet. I'm not a sushi expert by any means but I do like all kinds of it and my recent favorite has been Zen5 sushi on garnet.

Also I don't find gaslamp to be very touristy at night, but I have only lived here three years so I guess I am not a native yet.

Good one, Manton. I had to look him up. I'm a moderate Dem, but I like many of his positions... at least what I could quickly surmise from this LA Times interview.

He's also a good writer:
"Mankind's moral sense is not a strong beacon light, radiating outward to illuminate in sharp outline all that it touches. It is, rather, a small candle flame, casting vague and multiple shadows, flickering and sputtering in the strong winds of power and passion, greed and ideology. But brought close to the heart and cupped in one's hands, it dispels the darkness and warms the soul."

I would have to call James Q. the greatest social scientist of all time.

Grew up in Long Beach and went to Redlands. Retired to Malibu.

The most honest man ever produced by the American academy.

+1. Moynihan was a good friend of his and DPM relentlessly praised Wilson.
