@Hotjock I too am a fan of the more traditional styles, Budapest and 3636 (at least in the Vass world... Buday has something that looks like its similar to the 3636 too). You've probably already noted it from reading through the thread, but the Buday Frakno is a really great shape.

Let us know about your visit, please! :)

Visited both Rozsnyai and Buday this afternoon.

Unfortunately, I spent so long in the Rozanyai store that I only had a fleeting visit to Buday. Each to their own but I wasn't a fan of their styles. But they look very well made and finished.

However, I was much more impressed with Rosznyai. Much better finishing and lots of contemporary styles.

I take 43.5 in Vass F and U last and 9.5 in GG, EG, JLP & CJ. Unfortunately they didn't have any 43.5, but the 43 on the 116 last although "snug" fitted well. They said they could stretch them a little if required after I had worn them a few times.

10% discount for cash (including shoe trees which look good quality and are lasted) is 112,000 Forints = €360.

Belt to match is 15,000 Forints, excluding cash discount (hand painted). Normal belt 12,000 Forints.

Apologies, that this is more about Tozsnyai than Buday, but may be of interest anyway.

I will place an MTO next week. 4 weeks to make.

I edited the photos in the spoiler above so that they are larger and we can all get a good look. ;) Thanks for taking and posting them.

And while there is a Rosznyai thread around here somewhere (pretty quiet I think), I for one am pretty much good looking at any Hungarian shoes.

Glad to hear you found the styles you are looking for at Rosznyai.

And darn that's really good value at the pricing you mention.

I think the US landed price for Buday is pretty darn good too, allowing for the fact that Ed has to get paid for his time and trouble.

Really do want to get to Budapest and shoe shop at some point.

While we're at it, I might as well mention that Rosznyai has a few new lasts coming up, a webstore is being planned, and some other surprises may pop up this year. We'll see how things go, but at least there's a new person in charge these days.

Any ETA on these things? I've been very intrigued by the triumvirate of Vass/Buday/Rosznyai...as well as Atilla.

Just pulled the trigger on my first pair of Budays - indeed, my first pair of Hungarian shoes.

Budapesters in oxblood shell.

There's some odd tax rule in Hungary which really incentivizes them to ship within a month of placing the order. I was on the road for seven months so I had to convince them to hold the MTOs for quite a while before shipping them. I really doubt that ETA will ever be a problem.

Poorly phrased on my part, but thank you for the info.

I was actually inquiring about the ETA regarding a new webstore/last(s) that are rumored to be in the offing.

In any event, the more info, the better, so

That's a really nice offer. $449 is a crazy price, assuming it gets there. Thought I assume it shouldn't be hard to find 4 people for those shoes given the variety of colors offered.
