My boss was a customer of his. He gave me a tie in that yellow color he likes (always had a yellow rolls parked outside his store) and he recently did a collaboration with bugatti for a special edition veryon.

Bijian also made a special connection with the Persian/Iranian community. He was quite proud of his Iranian heritage at a time when it was looked down upon (in much of the USA) but he pushed on and lived large.

rnoldh;4370723 I am pretty sure that his suits and SCs were primarily made by D Avenza and Belvest ( and not to particularly higher standards than those companies main line stuff ). Very nice MTM or RTW but by no means a contender for the best said:
D'Avenza, yes, not sure about Belvest. A friend of mine was the go-between in helping to produce his garments between him and D'Avenza and he told me Bijan always asked him "How can we make it better"
Have heard stories that he would make full pieces (60 to 80 yards) of cloth to get patterns, colors and quality he wanted but only make a few jackets or suits to be exclusive. That is using maybe 20% of the cloth. Somebody had to pay for the rest of the cloth.

I know 2 or 3 people who shopped there and his presentations were spectacular. The walls were lined with wardrobes. If you wanted something in grey he would take you to the grey wardrobe and open it. There would be a complete wardrobe in shades of grey for every purpose and situation with accessories including sports wear, outerwear, suitings, sportcoats, shoes, shirts, ties, cufflinks, luggage, umbrellas, hats, gloves, etc.. He had these presentations in multiple colors and each presentation had a package price for everything shown.

I'm remembering a few more things as I go.

When he built out the store in NY he sent by FedEx, overnight priority , full size chrome hammers to clients announcing that construction was underway on a new store.

Having seen a few notes he sent to my clients, his stationery was amazing with detail and the notes were all hand written, I assume by him.

I recently thrifted a Bijan jacket and, as a memorial of sorts, I will be listing it in B&S @ $18,000.00 plus shipping.

No derail here, but I love the line, proportions and look of this jacket.

I didn't know Albert Mariani but I knew his son Frank. Reagan started having clothes made with Albert when Reagan was in college. Frank took over the business and continued to make clothing for RR. I hear stories that he used other tailors but have not ever seen a picture of RR in anything but Mariani suits. This is definitely a Frank Mariani suit.

^ That is as close to timeless as it gets.

Looks as good today as it did then, or any other time in Western Mens' clothing for that matter.

I'm fairly certain that Belvest did make suits and SCs for him,I'm not sure of what times though.

This is no doubt the jacket that did in the Friday WAYWRN Challenge , and caused SpooPoker to lamment "Lately it has become less of a focus but more of a costume adventure, which is not what I wanted it to turn into." I do apologize about that guys. Anyhow, this jacket may be archetypically Bijan: yellow color, loud lining, and the gold-plated brand tag, which is far removed from the loosely anchored labels than many of even the high-end brands use. I've actually come to enjoy the jacket.

I liked the tale about his gold Colt handguns:

"The gun had a leather handgrip fashioned for a .38-cal. Colt revolver; inlaid in the cylinder was 56 grams of 24-karat gold. The revolver was placed in a mink pouch in a Baccarat crystal case embossed with the customer's name. Bijan's own signature is engraved in gold on the barrel of the gun. Only 200 such guns were made. In 2005, one of these guns sold to Jacob Nahamia at Christie's auction house for over $50,000 USD"

It did not do in the challenge, but funny enough, you wore it the day he died...
