If you have received your invitation to A Collection of Sartorial Excellence and have not yet RSVP'd, be sure to call a.s.a.p.... Available times are filling up fast fast fast.

If you requested and have not received your invitation:
1] Call the U.S.P.S. and complain
2] Call us at 866-267-7909 and R.S.V.P. now anyway

And for all of you who have already called, it has been a pleasure speaking with you. Overall, never a more polite and courteous group of gentlemen has it been my pleasure to deal with.
Oh ... except for that Texas shoe fetishist and the rule-obsessed Machiavelli avatar guy. One of them kept eyeing my cow as if she were merchandise ... the other was mumbling something about the cow being all black during the day.

What sort of rank libel is this? Everybody kinows that a full-grown cow is completely inappropriate for upper leather for fine shoes. Geez, if you're going to tell stories, at least make them good.

What a shame that Rbaalrajhi didnt make it this far or we could have heard... "You like it the Cow?" http://66.170.193.77/cgi-bin....57;st=0 ]Click here for explanation[/url] Oh, and Alex, you'll do wise to keep an eye on "that Texan fellow" and your wallet.

OK, OK. It was a calf. I just didn't want to make the guy sound like a baby killer.

Not to worry, not to worry. I'll, um, retrieve your wallet before I see Alex, so his isn't in danger. At least from me.

You call that a calf? Better stick to your day job, Alex. You don't have a future as a cattle farmer.

Ahhh... The popular misconception of the unsuspecting customer... Its the job of the Retailer to relieve the customer of the contents of the wallet if not the wallet of said client. Quote from the retailers handbook pg 265. Not the other way around. [IMG]

Bespoke maker, whilst taking measurements of client, "Excuse me, sir, but I am trying to measure the size of your chest and hips without interference. Would you be so kind as to remove the contents of your pockets and place them upon this table?" Bespoke Makers Manual, Chapter 1 Unbreakable Sartorial Rules, Page 1, Paragraph 1, Sentence 1

Many of you are asking if you need your invitation for admission. The answer is no. You need your sense of style, your questions for the makers, and a desire to meet some of your fellow members. But you absolutely need to R.S.V.P. in order to gain admission. F.A.Q. What is the event's format? In as short and simple as we can say it, the event has NO format. We are there to answer your questions ... as we have said from the very beginning. We are there to overcome the limitations of the written word. There are no seminars or regularly scheduled demonstrations. If someone wants to know how to iron, I'll give a brief demo. Sew on a button? Sure. Cut a collar and cuffs? Why not? But these demos will be done in answer to questions, not because they are scheduled for 11:47 in the Cary Grant room. Will I have shirt fabric samples? How can I explain the differences among voiles, broadcloths, oxfords, and twills without them? Of course I will have my samples. Including some antiques never before shown in public and a selection of the high-count (170s-200s) cottons ... and about 1000 more. Will there be refreshments? Yes, but they will be very limited and strictly contained within a specified area. Absolutely nobody will be permitted to bring wine (sorry, Chuck) or food into the areas where there will be six figures worth of bespoke & ready-to-wear clothing and the components thereof. Will there be clothing and accessories available for purchase? We asked the Regency if they would donate one of their suites for the weekend so a group of upscale ladies and gentlemen could come and peruse some of the world's most expensive clothing ... but somehow they just weren't getting the non-profit aspect of it. Tried explaining it as an educational event. They're still laughing. In other words, cash, checks, PayPal, Mastercard, Visa, and American Express will be accepted when you reach the checkout line. [IMG] Seriously though, I know that Chuck will have a small stock of his newest ties arriving from Italy tomorrow available for purchase. I'll be bringing some Zimmerli and a bit of Pantherella ... including some items which aren't yet on the market ... and the ability to measure for single Ready Made shirts. As previously mentioned, Gabor will be accepting Vass special orders. That's not the focus of the event but, heck, what's a clothier with nothing to sell? Is there anything we should bring? Yes. Please come prepared. If you have questions for us, make a list of them and bring it. If you have a particular garment about wish you would like to ask something, bring it along (remember, double-needle stitched shirts will be burned if placed near my bespoke shirts). You may have photos, clippings, a post from a forum you didn't fully understand, or other visual aid with which you want assistance. Bring it. After all, that's the whole purpose. We want to overcome the limitations of the written word and poor-quality web-based photography. Thanks for all of your support. Keep those R.S.V.P.s coming. See you this weekend.

    Alex,
How tight is the schedule? Does anyone have any subtle ideas for identifying themselves as Styleforum regulars? (I'd rather not upset Mr. Kabbaz's normal clientele by asking everyone why they DRESS LIKE FARMER or if they know Mr. Mittal, Marc Grayson, etc.). Seriously, part of the reason I'm going to attend, involves meeting at least of the few individuals who frequent this site.

    cheers,
    NCT

Are you sure you would rather it be me than one of the more experienced tiemaker members? Remember my son's CK tie from a few weeks ago? He learned everything he knows from me. [IMG]

Excellent point, Alex. Stick to the shirts and we'll harass Chuck about the ties.

LOL.... Jill and I both got back to Dallas and are leaving for NYC in a few hours. Will discuss the secret forum tie over the weekend.

Wore out, trip report will follow.

Many thanks to all who sent the kind notes to Jill and I on the passing of her mom, it meant a great deal to Jill in a very rough week.
