No. But at this stage I think the OP would find bodyweight exercises (push-ups, raised leg push-ups, or with weight plates on back) easier/more beneficial anyhow.

Also, keep in mind that he would need a set of DBs in at least 5 different weights. Not all that easier to store than other options...

I didn't at first, I said bar, but if space and size are issues, the KBs are a better solution than a single set of DBs.

well yes, a set of DBs definitely take up more space.

i was thinking he would just be buying 1 or 2 pairs of DBs to begin with (that's all I have at home (of course I also have access to my school gym....))

I figured he was going to get a set of dumbbell bars and plates.

doesn't matter, you can do a lot of stuff with either barbell or dumbbells.

advantage of barbell, like someone posted, is that you can have up to 300 pounds of resistance cheaply.

you can do deads, bench, squats, everything you need with just that barbell and plates.

Yea, that's what I got today.

Two adjustable dumbbells and plates. 20KG of plates in total.

+1, I love mine. True they are much more expensive than regular dumbells, but well worth it if saving space is a priority.

javyn, those look good but does the squareness of the powerblocks take getting used to in any way. I'm sure the weight disrtibution etc is the same as conventional dumbells, but are there any differences in lifting perceived or otherwise?
