I bought a blazer in 36R and the shoulders fit nicely, however my chest is 34, which makes the jacket a bit loose in the chest/ waist. Is it typically a difficult and expensive task to taper the sides? I also need to shorten the sleeves a bit as well.

^ Coat looks like something the Nazi SS would wear. Sinister looking (and ugly)

Few years ago there was a post of a beautiful indigo blue coat of that type posted. This was the closest picture I have on hand.

I guess you could call it a bastardized version of an Ulster coat. Those arm slits are awful

Hey guys!  I have a Navy Blue jacket & pants.  I used to wear a white solid shirt with it, but it sadly ripped and I don't really have time/money to buy a nice new one.  So, I was thinking about wearing this solid purple shirt with it.  Only thing is, I don't really know what kind of tie to wear?  I've got access to a lot of them, and was just thinking about some ideas for colors.  Thanks!

If a solid, dark gray. (The tie should be darker than the shirt, navy would be blue overkill, and a livelier color could clash with the shirt.) If patterned, plaid is rather trendy and then a subdued one of those is likely to be okay. Other patterns might work.

I really don't think that's bad. The fit is pretty good from what I can see. You'll get **** for the white shirt and possibly the lapels though.
What tie is that? From this distance with that camera, it looks like a $5 generic shiny silk tie.

Mimo can't say too much about that fit I don't think. :p

LOL - I don't know whether to blame the dang camera or not but that tie is a Brioni. FML

Yeah blame the shaky camera and the dirty mirror. Plus, I'm not good at telling brands. Especially since, to me, from that distance, one plain tie is just like another plain tie.
