Going to a wedding in Italy next week and the dress code is elegant & formal. It's at Lake Como so it's not hot.

I'm thinking about this dark green DB suit and would like advice on what color shirt and tie go with it. My three style characteristics are elegant, classic and distinctive (in that order).

I like the tie in the picture (cream and gold) which gives off wedding vibes and is distinctive. Does it work? What type of shirt will go well with that tie?

Thanks in advance.

First thing that popped in my head was sky blue...

The blue striped shirt would look nice if the tie was not striped (you can see in my attached picture). I would probably go with a light blue shirt for the striped tie.

this might sound obvious but I'd suggest just trying outfits on. Surely you have a range of shirt colors and ties -- it'll probably take you about 15 minutes to figure out what works well from your own closet.

You're right. I'm a bit concerned about this one. I don't trust my eyes sometimes.
