About dry cleaning

FWIW, a box holding some chinese food dripped sauce on the left hem of my wool grey trousers.

Pretty awful experience being my first. Just imagine thick goo.

Got home about 2-3hrs later to dab clean it with a cloth dipped in cold water and oxi clean.

Looks like the stain is already setting in... will not know for sure until the morning.

Is dry cleaning really the end solution for mishaps like this? Real bummer

take them to the cleaners - make sure they tag the stain so it gets pretreated - it's no biggie. they'll be fine.

Hand wash the trousers in cold water and Woolite. Iron them yourself.

There's nothing wrong with dry cleaning them, it's the frequency of the process that can add to the damage.

I think I saw a movie that sounded like this once....

On a serious note, that stain is likely to contain elements of all the major food groups... so if your home remedy doesn't work, get a (good) professional to look at it, and don't get too abrasive/harsh with your home treatment efforts in the meantime.

Got my trousers back today. Stains are gone, and upon going home I put them beside my suit jacket - and thankfully, I see no sign of color fade at all.

Only issue I have is that it seemed to have been pressed too hard. The sides of the trousers outside, where the seams are, have creases resulting from the folds inside the trousers.


Still pleased with how it turned out anyway.
