This is a fantastic thread, six years later. Great seeing all the before and after photos! Amazing! I'm wondering if anyone here knows of a company or person who revives vintage leather shoes for a living or as a side gig? That is, I can mail my shoes to the company or person and they send back when finished? I'm a bit hesitant to take on the job myself, particularly the soaking shoes in water part (I'm afraid I'll screw up my shoes!). Thanks for any help you can provide!

Hi! Thanks for getting back to me! I l ive in Huntington Beach, CA. I decided to take a risk and I submerged the shoes in water and are in the process of drying So far so good as the curls are almost gone, although I probably should have cleaned and conditioned the shoes first! As I'm a newbie to restoring vintage shoes, I would continue to be interested of any folks out there who do this type of work as a hobby, job, or side gig. Thanks again!

Alberto Suastez in Arizona does it as a side gig.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
