Proper Cloth - Official Affiliate Thread

Hi @Seph Can anything be done about your shipping rates to Australia? AU$37 flat rate is a wince-inducing amount, particularly when shipping to the US--which is much further from where your shirts are made than Australia--is only AU$22. It is also considerably more than your competitors, for...

Hi mate. Out of the box mine was quite scratchy and smelled strongly of sheep (!). After a wash and just a few days of wear it has softened and is now very comfortable. I imagine there are softer shawl cardigans out there, but not at this price point. EDIT: The smell is quickly fading too :)

So the little flower I have was from a Sydney SF gent--I forget his name, but he ran a little clothing accessories shop (I think they also sold polos, or maybe popovers?). This was back in the glory days of 2010-2012 IIRC...

Anyone still wear one of these lapel flowers from back in the day? :)

And just to be clear, there is no other way of achieving a looser forearm, other than three pleats? If so, this is a shame.

@Seph any comment on this? :)

Oh that is interesting ^^ ...based on the "sleeves should hang unbuttoned to bottom of the V between thumb and forefinger" rule, my sleeves actually could be 0.5-1" longer. I think I will try that. Thanks! Edit: out of interest, what sleeve width measurement are y'all going for?

Hi all I like a longer sleeve and a tighter cuff to go with it, but am finding even with three pleat forearms that my combination of cuff and sleeve width measurements results in a elbow/forearm area that is a bit constricted. Does anyone have an idea of how to correct this? I thought perhaps...

This forum is a bit down on local MTM lately :). OTR stuff doesn't fit me either, and so I know how much time and money you can waste trying to find OTR options that fit, or having alterations done that don't work out. For People Like Us I think places like Suit Shop or Oscar Hunt are good...

I got a suit from SuitShop in late 2017. Half-canvassed, basic fabric, $1,300. I was happy with the service and the fit, and still am. I went back for a shirt last year in a basic royal oxford, which was $195. Wasn't happy with the fit. They remade it for me, and I'm happy with the remade...

Oh right, there is a Sydney outlet now. Sorry what are the parameters of MTO--you can change things like jacket sleeve length?

^^ How did you access Suit Supply MTO -- not in OZ, I'm guessing?

Oh I have them and like them too, but I prefer a finer fabric and some higher-end finishing (split waistband etc.) for dressier occasions. Uniqlo chinos I reserve for Fridays and weekends.

Wait I just found Spier & Mackay. IS THIS THE ANSWER? :D

Gents where are we getting out dressier chinos from these days? I have been a big fan of Howard Yount in the past, but they seem to have ominously run down their stock. Not sure if perhaps they are wrapping up? I also have a couple of pairs from Charles Tyrwhitt, which I like--though they are...

Oh this seems like a big trend these days. My Nudie jeans have some % elastane (which I don't mind, given their slimness), and I just noticed Charles Tyrwhitt no longer seems to have chinos other than non-iron or 'stretch' varieties. God forbid you should have to wear your clothes in before they...

*Sigh*, you're right of course. Being awkwardly between sizes is so ******* annoying...
