    Casual shoes with dress pants

Paraboot is a good choice if you ask me. They are classic and good quality which will last for years. I have several pairs myself.

    Shoes

I seem to remember that they sell Allen Edmonds at NK? (I might be mistaken...)

    Anyone used yoox before?

I've ordered from Yoox twice and IME they're fast and reliable. The prices are a bit high at times though.

    Haute couture for men?

When we talk about Haute couture, remember that only a small handfull of the Parisian houses actually make a profit off of it. The real money lies in perfumes, sunglasses, ready-to-wear... The couture shows are mainly marketing, needed to keep their official, prestigious status as a Parisian...

    Chelsea/ ankle boots

Did you notice that they have quite a few models out there? They've been around for some decades and can provide anything from dressy to rain forest, I suppose. I certainly never bought anything chunky from them.

    Chelsea/ ankle boots

I used to have a great pair of RM Williams, had them for 8 years I think. They were getting worn so I threw them away when I was moving to another country... Just treat them with care and they will look good and last for a long time.

Italy for 2 weeks at the end of the year

I live in Milan, in the far north of Italy (it's very close to Switzerland). Florence/Venice are also in the north. Be aware of the fact that it can get cold during the winter, even bitterly cold. Don't forget to bring some warm sweaters. I had a visitor from Sweden during the winter; I...

    Suede shoes

There's no problem wearing suede shoes in snow, as long as it's cold. Slushy snow is a bad idea if that's what you meant.

    Suit tags

People are clueless, they don't realise it should be removed.

Aftershave - using an electric shaver

I suppose the reason for using after shave is that the alcohol is an astringent as well as an antibacterial? If you need that, it's better to try other products though. Anyway, I don't think I've ever met anyone who did use after shave after shaving. Most use moisturizer if they use anything IME.

    Messenger bags

If you're going outside the US, I don't think you'll need to worry about carrying a "purse" around. IME the attitude is more relaxed towards bags overseas; they're practical and they should preferably be stylish. The only kinds of bags which might raise eyebrows are the *very* small...

    Combat the hairline

Huh? If we're talking about head hears: Hairs fall out all our lives. Hairs grow for only so long (usually years) and then die and fall out; new hairs replace the dead ones. Unless you're going bald, in which case you may or may not want to combat it. Finasteride (Proscar/Propecia) works by...

    Combat the hairline

Regarding Propecia, I'd been taking those for two months until I found out I could buy Proscar which is a fraction of the cost. Proscar is used for treating enlargment of the prostate. While researching/testing Proscar they found out the hair thing was a side effect. So, what did they do? They...

    Double monk strap shoes

I've seen a few ones here in Milan, there's a pair I'm lusting after right now. I forgot if it's at a Vergilio store or one of the Pollinis or some other place. I saw them but didn't react immediately. They were roughly € 240. When I got home I realised I wanted them; I don't remember exactly...

    What's your favorite mainstream designer?

What he said. I really like RL for basics. It's good (though nowhere near stellar) quality and relatively affordable. I try to avoid the horse though...

    Fused suits?

Yeah. You can actually find stuff from the studio line at the supermarket I usually shop at. To be fair, I have to add that it's last season. There is so much stuff floating around Milan that it has to end up somewhere, I guess.

    Where do you all live?

I moved to Milan 7 weeks ago, Stockholm before that.

    Paul smith

Paul Smith is decent quality. Some items are very good, some stuff is pretty bad. Knitwear seems to be the weak point in my experience. Suits, jackets and coats are generally safe. IMO.

    Cashmere sweaters

Sorry to knit-pick (heh) but cashmere wool comes from central Asia, right? It's refined/spun/knitted in such places as Scotland and Italy, not originated in those places. Or do they actually keep those kinds of goats in Europe?
