    SWD Discussion Thread for Tailoring

Just came back from Istanbul, the amount of oversized 80s blazers is off the charts. Older people wearing them because that's what they have always worn, and young people wearing them because fashion. The former of course not as oversized as the latter. There are a few "thrift" shops stocking...

The unofficial Drake's London Appreciation Thread

interesting. can you describe these pushy sales techniques if you don't mind? I visited the London branch earlier this year and they were very gracious. the fit of the clothes are definitely very specific, but the chinos have grown to become my no.1 trousers the past 3 years.

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

I am asking about shirt alteration for a change. Simple question: is converting a long sleeve shirt into a short sleeve one as simple as cutting the excess length off and hemming the sleeves? Or is pattern manipulation needed? If so, what sorts?

    Anglo-Italian

Apologies I was referring to their RTW block, which of course was used to gauge the correct fit. If I were to go MTM, the waist would be suppressed correctly, which they demonstrated using pins. No problem at all- the fit is correct and good. Just making the comment regarding what sort of body...

    Anglo-Italian

The base block is not suitable for my build- I have square-ish shoulders, drop 8 (42 chest, 34 waist). The MTM base is drop 6, but I imagine if altered to drop 8 it wouldn't look like Anglo-Italian cut? Ha! I do think the currently-trendy louche look has a lot to do with the wearers all having...

vintage BB or RL in longer length? RTW back then could cover so much variation in height if vintage BB, look for the ones without front darts. those are the real gems

Official Rochester Tailored Clothing (formerly Hickey Freeman) Thread

ah, to think that these cuts are now considered the old cuts... also aren't those Italian made? man, if we can resurrect the true MIUSA vintage BB dartless fit from the 80s or older that would be gold. still one of the best RTW shoulders in my opinion.
