Sorry, but you don't know what you are talking about. Ok.

    Morning Suit Madness...

I think Mr Cameron looks pretty sharp. Sure the outfit is a bit baggy, but that's just an old fashioned fit. Baggy does not = old-fashioned. Also he has a rueful gap between his shirt and coat collar, and that's not old-fashioned either.

    white tie with DJ

I just scanned over this thread again and realised what I'd missed. Reagan speechwriter faults Obama for lack of sartorial savoir-faire in the well-precedented white tie / DJ combo, while interpreting Bush as an example of old-money nonchalance with regard to clothes (he's a 'rugged outdoorsman'...

Fine. I guess it will have to be the toga then. Does anyone know what shoes are appropriate? I was thinking #8 shell. Woven-leather sandals?... whatever suits you best.

What slacks to were with suit jacket?

Orphaned coats should not really be worn in such a way - they look exactly what they are - orphans. If you must, then jeans only. Depends on the pocket style. If the op's jacket has patch pockets, it would be indistinguishable a tan linen sportcoat. It would be the same as the trousers from a...

    white tie with DJ

Oh, goody! I can break out my frock coat and knee breeches. No, wait! Even better! My toga! They really look quite dignified, when you think about it. Very insightful. However, frock coats were not worn with knee breeches.

    Rate My Ties

I would only keep the navy with white dots by Brooks Brothers (top pic), the black grenadine tie next to it, and the striped J Crew tie in the middle of the bottom pic.

Most of these trousers are too long

The trousers are too long because ---- That's what you usually end up with on RENTALS I find it hard to believe that many of the politicians and celebrities are using rentals.

Most of these trousers are too long

meh, I don't think they're as bad as you state. They're not up to the SF standard but the first pic I saw, of Becks, is not out of keeping with traditional norms. Beckham's break looks worse in the other picture of him that I didn't post. If by 'traditional norms' you mean the excessive break...

    white tie with DJ

When I saw William Powell in The Thin Man, I noticed that he wore a white waistcoat with his dinner jacket. His tie was black. It looked dapper and I approved. Black waistcoats with black tie are too funereal for my taste: better to wear a double-breasted DJ, or (gasp) a cummerbund, or just keep...

Most of these trousers are too long

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...arp-black.html The only man wearing his trousers at the proper length is Prince Felipe of Spain. Everyone else is swimming in a puddle of cloth. Actually, Rowan Atkinson somehow manages to have too much break yet without looking so messy. A mess: The...

What Were You Wearing as a Child When Dressed Up?

Nicely done. You were the Easter egg security guard. Pretty much. I'll take comfort that the loafers weren't black.

Is this waistcoat too short ?

There might be some kinda takeaway from western wear here though. They're clearly into both vests and massive belt buckles, so I'm inclined to think the whole jeans/vest/belt thing is better serviced by looking at westernwear. That's actually what I was thinking too. When I wrote my previous...

How's the Fit of this Double Breasted Sport Coat?

Sorry for being nosy, but I just noticed that you blurred out your watch in that picture... why?

How's the Fit of this Double Breasted Sport Coat?

Nice coat. I'd have it let out a bit at the waist and maybe arms as well, if there is material to let out.

    Linen pocket squares for black-tie

White linen is the most 'correct' choice for black tie, if that matters to you, because white linen is what pocket handkerchiefs were in the 19th century, before men started wearing silk ones. It makes sense that the older, historically correct handkerchief is what goes with formal evening...
