Anyone ever experience the footbed seemingly coming unglued from the sole? I just bought a pair of 4011HCs, and both boots’ white footbeds (not heel pads) ripple/raise when flexed. So after spending some time on shoe care over the weekend, I was surprised to find a small tear forming on a pair of wingtip boots under the eyelets where the tongue connects to the vamp. Scored these beauties as seconds from TSM. Appears to be the Calton Hill Balmoral from Brogue. Only flaw I can find is the semi-circular surface scratch near the facings on the right shoe. If you’re at or approaching full closure when the shoe is new, as the cork in the sole confirms to your foot, you’ll probably feel like they’re a bit loose once the shoe has “broken-in.” Only you can decide if the D width is too snug. This is what happened to me when I attempted to go 1/2 size down in the Barrie. I'm usually a 9.5E, so I tried wingtip boot from TSM on the Barrie in 9E, but I felt like the widest part of the ball of my foot was ahead of the widest part of the sole, which felt ever-so-slightly snug. First day back in the office for the New Year calls for new shoes. After a slight stitching hiccup, AE remade my bourbon Strands.
