I’d also swap out the buttons so it reads less like an orphaned suit coat. Brass, or light brown, or mother of pearl.

    SWD Discussion Thread for Tailoring

To my eye that’s too small - in particular the buttoning point on the jacket is too high even though the sleeve length looks OK. It’s an issue with many Italian brands / Italian inspired RTW tailoring, the sleeves are long compared to the body which makes it better to get the right body length...

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

Personally I struggle to see how anything other than C is a legitimate option. The tailor’s response (which might include them offering D) will inform how you react. I’m also not hearing anything which is egregious enough to warrant A. Your scenario suggests it’s just lapel width?

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

I get braces buttons and side adjusters on all my trousers. I’ve found myself wearing braces with suits less in recent years, but mostly because with the casualisation of the workplace a suit is unusual, a tie exceptional, and I suspect braces are a bridge too far…

They’ve got a sale on right now which is mostly left-over stock. If you wait a week or so they’ll be back up.

Aside from the cropped trousers, inseams seem to hover around the 30-31 inch range, although with a higher rise so you can get more out of them. For the items which are essentially made to order, they offer custom inseam - either on the item page or if you mail customer services. I have a...

Some more pieces: Knit tees, this time in natural and indigo dye: One of their sweatshirts - third party blank, but natural indigo dyed and with badhani (hand tied thread dye resist) ‘clouds’: More badhani, this time on a very lightweight band collar popover: Something I didn’t...

If you mail customer services, they are usually great at sharing measurements. In my experience there are two silhouettes - the regular, and the roomy. Just need to eyeball the item to see which looks more likely…

And then something very different - a natural indigo dyed shirt. Showing this both as something more on the formal end of 11-11’s offerings, but also because it showcases some of the stunning handwork: Handsewn buttonholes and pick stitching. I’ve had bespoke shirts with less refined handwork...

It’s Church’ term for their corrected grain leather - see thread here, but it’s also what they are still using an advertising for their $1300 shoes… https://www.styleforum.net/threads/clarification-on-churchs-binder-leather.347098/

    11-11 (Eleven Eleven) appreciation thread

I’ve been a fan of 11-11 for a few years now, but not seen their clothes discussed here (or anywhere) much. Following their mention in DWW’s recent ‘Excited to wear’ (https://dieworkwear.com/2024/03/29/excited-to-wear-this-spring-5/) I thought I’d start a thread to show some of the pieces I...

Ask A Question, Get An Answer... - Post All Quick Questions Here (Classic menswear)

I just press them again when they need it with an iron (you’ll quickly discover which fabrics hold a crease…), and usually send for cleaning at the end of the season. A steamer and an iron are two very different things - you’ll need to use pressure to maintain a crease. For fabrics liable to...

The Ultimate Vass (Footwear) Thread (Pictures, reviews, sizing, etc...)

I have pairs on the U last and wear them, but they are definitely better paired with sharp suits. I’d go for the F last if you want something more versatile. Sizing on the U can be tricky because of the taper to the toebox. I’m a US 11.5 and a 45.5 (loafers) or 46 (lace ups) in the U last. 45...

I enjoy browsing, mostly because I love clothes and thrifts / charity shops mean you never know what you’ll find. But honestly at this point, I’m finding better deals via ethrifting than via bricks and mortar.

    Cashmere Sweater Hierarchy

I have never seen a ‘vintage’ Ballantyne with that label - 90s was the more classic blue dragon one at the beginning and then the gold B in a blue square logo. That logo above is a modern one.

٭٭٭ No Man Walks Alone - Official Affiliate Thread ٭٭٭ (a.k.a. I shouldn't have slept on it)

It’s for when you are wearing a belt, the fabric loop goes around the prong of the belt buckle so that the belt stays in the same place whether everything’s fastened up or you’re taking them off.

It’s Tall, and the shirt weave is called a Dobby weave.
