    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

That's exactly what it is. Back in the day (before White's and Baker's started customizing everything), the difference was the backstay. On all of White's work boots there is a separate heel counter and backstay. The Semi-Dress is a single piece of leather. That used to be the only difference...

Styleforum Gives: Holiday Charity Auctions to benefit one of our own, 2023 edition

It looks like bidding is still open, I've been looking for a wool jacket, in a peacoat style no less, so I'll put it over the top at $725

I'm no boot expert or boot builder, but I've noticed that on several pairs of PNW boots, and most of the Nicks have it. Keep in mind there are multiple layers of leather in the heel counter. The first time I saw it, my thought was, "hell yeah, there is plenty of leather back there to protect...

I definitely want to see the video. It's hard to tell from a single side shot, but if the pattern is somewhat symmetrical, they may look pretty awesome. But it still makes my brain hurt. ;)

How was it to work with? I think if it was just vamp and heel counter it would be cool. But I have OCD and all those crossing ridges make my brain hurt. LOL

    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

Are you certain about the heel? My pair of BH have about 5 pieces of leather in the heel stack. Yours look like about 2. With that leather midsole and thick leather outsole, that looks lowered to me.

Just to add to what Shuyler said, if you go with a double midsole and the lug sole, it's too thick to stitch through, so it isn't even an option to ask for it. I have several pairs of double midsole boots that aren't stitched through the outsole, and have never had an issue with the sole...

I saw those, and I was thinking about it. LOL I have the veg tan packers, and my son has a pair of natural CXL Renegades. If you know what I mean. 😅 I have to decide what shade of tan/brown I want. Maybe there will be something interesting for a Father's Day sale. Every dad needs a pair of...

The main reason I checked in tonight was to comment on these. Moc toes don't really do much for me. I think they look nice, but it wasn't something on the top of my list. The moc toe Riverfronts have caught my eye. I have the Alderts, but these are different enough that I'm interested in them...

I hate when shoes cut into my ankles (fractured the left ankle many years ago and had a bad sprain on the right not too long ago). When I try on some mid-height footwear, the first thing I check is if the top of the upper cuts into my ankles. I have a pair of the Alderts, and don't have any...

    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

I thought I posted a reply to this a few days ago, and asked you to introduce me to the 28 YO's sister. LOL But no, I have only owned Whites and Nicks packers. They both fit the same, and I went up 1/2 in length and one width in both.

    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

And this is an example where it would probably be beneficial if all of us pointy toe boot freaks also posted a photo of our feet. LOL I bet you either have a long big toe, or pinky toe. For me, my big toe is what rubs more in the pointed toe style.

    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

The Packers were my first pair of Whites, and I ordered directly from Whites by sending in the foot tracings and going with their recommendation. The size was off, and I actually had them for a year of off and on wearing to see if maybe I just needed to get used to the fit. In the mean time I...

    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

My first Thoroughbred toe Packers were Whites. It was an adventure getting the sizing correct. For me, 1/2 length longer and one width narrower versus the standard Smokejumper works great. But each individual is different.

    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

If you plan on wearing the thickest wool boot socks you can find, go up one size in width. The rough out is fairly indestructible. Over time if you treat it with something like Obenaufs, it starts to look almost like waxed flesh. I don't even use a horse-hair shoe brush on mine, I just use a...

Yes, a cyclist of occasional misadventures. LOL It's one reason I rarely buy sweatshirts. One wash and they barely go past my elbows. I'm seriously considering one of these jackets. 20oz waxed canvas is the heaviest I've seen. Do they have a 7 month lead time? LOL

Not to muddy the waters, but I wear a 10 in Nikes and most other normal footwear. If I'm going with thick hiking socks, 9.5D in Nick's seems good. If more normal weight hiking socks, 9.5C. The standard Nike 10 is slightly too wide, but not enough to worry about. That seems to align with...
