Things That Are Bothering You, Got You All Hibbeldy-Jibbeldy, or just downright pissed, RIGHT NOW!

My parents no longer have any horses or cows but the couple of times they've had to put down a dog over the past few decades, they still call up the large animal vet who to come out and do it for them. My mom, who is far from a sentimental person, still prefers to let her dogs spend their final...

    Poor man's watch thread

I just sold and mailed off (today as a matter of fact) an old Seiko Bell-Matic alarm watch and I would have loved if it had those extra 10 - 30 - 50 numbers around the dial. When I saw that Vulcain I instantly knew what those meant. I think this is an example of more text on a dial actually...

Things That Are Bothering You, Got You All Hibbeldy-Jibbeldy, or just downright pissed, RIGHT NOW!

A few years back I was getting a haircut and a couple minutes into it I noticed a ton of grey hair on the apron they put over me and I called out the lady cutting my hair for not cleaning it off sufficiently after the previous customer. She laughed and kept cutting my hair and I was like, WTF...

    The Official RRL Thread

I've got Bronson's and RRLs field chinos and the Buzz Rickson 1942 chinos. All are pretty good but I think Buzz's are the best of the three. The quality is on par with RRL for a much better price. The Bronson MFG are fantastic for the price but the both the Buzz's and the RRL have a bit better...

Wearing my Seiko 6105-8110 “Willard” from 1974 today. Sometimes I’m tempted to buy a modern one too but then I look at the price and the temptation goes away.

    Poor man's watch thread

@Jazzmenco - That's a tough choice, both watches have things I like about them. The Seiko 5 sort of reminds me of the green Seiko Sumo in a good way (especially the font on the bezel and the shape of the hour markers), but I think I prefer the color of the Gervil and I like the sharpness of the...

I've got a couple pieces from the collection - a sweater from the first drop and a western shirt from the spring drop. They both fit more closely to what I'd expect from the mainline Polo stuff, with the sweater maybe a bit large (but not at all sloppy).

The older I get and the worse my eyes become, the less concerned I am with setting the day or date on a watch.

Those look great! I've been wanting a pair of jeans in a shade like that for a while so I think I'm going to give these a try. Can you comment on the waist sizing? If you've got RRL officer chinos or maybe their "field chinos" how does the sizing compare? EDIT: I see now RRL has an actual size...

That's not a bad looking Invicta. Any idea how long ago you bought that one? Invicta makes a lot of oversized, gaudy trash but every once in a while I'll see one that I like. I love the subtle checkerboard design on the dial and like how they included that little dive helmet logo on the...

    Poor man's watch thread

That's probably the best looking shade of pink I've seen on a watch in a long time. Regarding the Tudor conversation, most of their stuff is pretty meh to me but there have been some exceptions over the years. I really liked the Ranger and have been tempted a few times over the years (but I...

Epaulet shop - Official Affiliate thread

Those persimmon tweed trousers are absolutely gorgeous! We just got home from about 12 days in Florida last night and I'm anxiously awaiting the backlog of mail to get delivered later today so I can get my hands on these new trousers. Very excited!

I'm with you on generally not liking the "repaired" items for the same reasons but like the looks of that one too. I wish it didn't have the band collar though, I've just never been a fan. To me, those shirts end up looking like pajamas, and being a blue/white striped popover isn't helping it...

Dealing with Purchasing and Corporation Counsel for contracts for professional services is by far the least favorite part of my job. By a long shot.

    Poor man's watch thread

I recently sold my Smith's Everest with an aventurine dial... and immediately regretted it. It was a gorgeous watch and I loved the fit. The dial was pretty subtle in most situations but in the right light it lit up absolutely beautifully.

Not running? Maybe a couple hundred dollars at most if you get it cleaned up first. If the bracelet is original and has an Omega-branded clasp, there might be more value in the bracelet than the watch itself. I sold a running Seamaster from roughly the same era a few years back for about $500...
