The State of Black Tie: Your Observations

I did yes. Worked out great, still my best set (though I do wish I had specified a sized tie instead of an adjustable one, I think it is probably more versatile now), which is only compared to my Drakes one. Want to get a Bowtique set too but that’s down the line a ways at this point

    Cars We Drive!

I have always loved the Range Rover Classic and after I traded in my Model 3 for a XC60 18 months ago I felt like my car was pretty soulless. Ended up finding a good looking one from 1989 with no rust and is pretty original that I bought and am having delivered. Anyone have any experience with...

Random Fashion Thoughts (Part 3: Style farmer strikes back) - our general discussion thread

To push back gently, I think there are plenty of plain black calf Chelsea boots, but just one with a tabi toe box. They’re in the business of selling Martin Margiela’s version of a Chelsea boot (even if he has exited the building metaphorically), not a classic one you could get from Carmina or...

You can pick one brand for the rest of your life for suits, shirts, ties, and shoes. Money is no object. Who do you pick?

Suits: Steven Hitchcock, love the suit he cuts for me Shirts: Budd or Wil Whiting, haven’t had an opportunity yet to go bespoke on shirts but it is next up on my list Shoes: Nicholas Templeman, having had foot pain in the last year or so, the necessity of taking care of my feet has been doubly...

Random Fashion Thoughts (Part 3: Style farmer strikes back) - our general discussion thread

Oh yeah for sure, just meant I could have paid less, probably still would have struck out on release day. Thanks! I’m looking forward to them coming in

Random Fashion Thoughts (Part 3: Style farmer strikes back) - our general discussion thread

StockX. Bit the bullet and paid $340 all in. I probably could have paid less if I had bought them earlier/actually known about the release and planned ahead but I missed out and ended up paying a premium for them 6 months post release

Random Fashion Thoughts (Part 3: Style farmer strikes back) - our general discussion thread

RFT: been a baller sneaker thread guy (read: Margiela GATs, dabbled in SLP, Lanvin, RO high tops) for a good number of years. Ended up buying a pair of black/white Jordan 1 high tops to wear with denim and tees and looking forward to them coming in. Trying not to have high hopes about leather...

Random Fashion Thoughts (Part 3: Style farmer strikes back) - our general discussion thread

Have you thought about going into your local running store and getting fitted? I did this when my feet first started hurting (flat feet) and it made a world of difference; I ended up in a pair of Saucony that I would have never picked out myself that were quite supportive. I did the same thing...

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

Cut, Make Trim. In this context at the very least, it means the customer provides the fabric, which can result in lower cost (but as I found with my tailor, YMMV) or spreading out the cost more, or can allow you to use some cloth you found whether it be limited run, end-cut that you found...

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

I think Templeman is where I am leaning. I had thought about G&G, both Lobbs, and a few others but I think ultimately Templeman provides an excellent product without the prices that the G&Gs of the world charge. Somewhat similar in my ethos too of why I ended up going with Steven Hitchcock for...

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

I think right now both are on my list. I was trying to say that I was okay with OTR shoes before but after last weekend’s 6 miles in my off the peg Lobbs I think I have reevaluated the importance of bespoke shoes. I don’t think I explained my thought process very well, I apologize

    Cars We Drive!

I am finally sick enough of my MY22 Volvo XC60 to get rid of it. I bought it as a pre-move up-in-the-air sensible car decision. Now I’m looking at a 36 month lease on a M340/440 GC or a M3 Comp. BMW residuals are usually pretty good and timeline will add up for me to the end of my work contract here

    Formula 1 - F1 - Current Season Discussion

Well, at least Nando looks like a king once again, and Ricciardo seems to have made the best decision of his career thus far by taking the $18MM buyout from McL and becoming the RB reserve

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

I have, I have a couple pairs of cordovan LWBs and some cordovan Naval boots. I noticed some heel slippage on my City IIs which is odd because I’ve had them for years and don’t recall any issues with fit in the past so maybe it was just today. I think form and function are important to me (the...

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

Having had my first (4) bespoke jackets and suits made, and having done MTM shirts for a while, I am getting increasingly dissatisfied with my RTW Lobb City IIs as my staple black and brown captoe oxfords. Unfortunately having flat feet that required orthotics well before long term memory...

The State of Black Tie: Your Observations

My tailor prefers a half-to-full break, I err more on the no-to-half realm. I think we ended up with just the tiniest bit of break on all of my trousers.

    SWD Discussion Thread for Tailoring

This is one of my Hitchcock suits in the Dieworkwear summer tweed, for reference to how the drape cut suit looks.
