The Possibly Official Engineered Garments Trading Thread (Part II - The Search for Jawnz)

I've got a few older pop-overs a couple of other pieces I'm looking to move. Everything is worn and washed multiple times, but well cared for and in good shape. I've been buying EG for about 20 years (eek, ha!) and really have TOO MANY CLOTHES, so looking to move the lesser worn and duplicate...

Would love to know how the Ivy Blazer fits compared to the Loiter... that CL blackwatch is sharp!

Going to Japan ... any recommendations?

Following along as I too will be making my first trip to Japan during the last two weeks of April (also doing Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, in addition to Naoshima and Kanazawa). Definitely most keen on finding stuff only available in Japan... anything from homewares to clothes. The relatively...

Style Farmer to Farmer Style—AKA Gardening Clothing

I would HIGHLY recommend Rossi Boots over Blundstones.... Still mostly made in Australia (tho I think they did have some factory issues during lockdowns and had to move some production overseas) and the quality is tops. Leather pull tabs instead of nylon, and resole-able too. I've had my pair...

Yeah, hiking will be muddy, but maybe less muddy than spring because at least December is at the start of the rainy season. Food recs above are great... Would also rec Expatriate (cocktail bar, no kids) and Luce (no resos, great for lunch).

Style Farmer to Farmer Style—AKA Gardening Clothing

Sassafras out of Japan (Avail in N America at Lost + Found, Blue In Green, maybe a few others) is explicitly inspired by gardening... I have a pair of their Sprayer pants in Denim and love 'em. I have a great simple denim overshirt by Old Town I picked up London a decade ago and have been...

Haven't really dined out much in the last 2 years, but recently had an exceptional meal and drinks at Expatriate. Our party of 5 ordered nearly everything on the menu, and all of it was great. Eem remains killer, and their food travels well for takeout. I dream about their brisket curry...

No spare Nike passes, but: Halo Shoes is now an Engineered Garments stockist. I may have missed this earlier in the thread, but I was pleasantly surprised when I popped in last weekend and found last years' brown duck painter pants on sale. Matches my Bedford for a complete brown duck suit.

Can anyone comment on the fit of the current Workaday Hoodies? They look to run relatively large, based on the fit models I've seen around the web, but I've also seen different measurements from different retailers (I know, what's new?).

Yeah this kills a lot of for me as well. Too 'streetwear' for my tastes. One of the things that drew me to EG in the early days (started buying in '04 I think) was the complete LACK of branding and visible logos. Even today, I still cringe at the (admittedly small) visible EG tags on an...

2nd the rec. for Oddfellows. Matt's on the Market, Le Pichet and Cafe Presse, Walrus & Carpenter, and London Plane are also faves. Obviously hit Dick's Drive In. Been hearing good things about the brand new Saint Bread as well. I also 2nd the rec for Navy Strength. Other great Seattle tiki bar...

Sugarpine is great, but I saw on the 'gram that they're about to undertake a remodel and will be closed, so I'd double-check before I head out there. Other recent faves: Eem (still), Hat Yai, Someday PDX, Canard... Things still haven't quite "opened up" yet, so best to check for hours and/or...

It's meant to be a "flagship" store, and from my understanding is spread across multiple levels. I'd imagine they'd have plenty of inventory.... but I haven't been yet.

Yeah, menswear in Portland has always been pretty weak. The occasional bright spot will pop up and then not be able to make it more than a few years... Winn Perry was great. I liked the OG Blake in it's first incarnation on 23rd (first EG account in Portland, I think... Machus seems fine but...

In non-pandemic times, did you commute to Portland for work from Vancouver? If I'm honest, that's the biggest mental hurdle for me... Both of my businesses are based in Portland and making it over that bridge twice a day sounds frustrating at best.
