The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I did try on a titanium YM; I was gabbing with a sales associate at the RM boutique and a gentleman came in wearing his. He kindly let me try it on. It's "super cool" but I'd not pay current 2ndary market prices for it that's for sure.

    Less risk of being "costume-y"?

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

TY for these comments. Steed will guide as will my wife who has a very good "eye." It will be a fun process and hopefully not a one-and-done!

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Hoping for some thoughts/suggestions here . . . going to get measured for my first bespoke sports jacket in a few weeks -- Steed coming to my city. I'm leaning towards something double-breasted in a wool tweed, but want to keep it on the right side of the "too costume-y" line. (Of course that...

Cannot disagree. There is SO MUCH I like about the aluminum bezels and smaller cases. Same with the subs; I have a Kermit from 2006 and vastly prefer it to the ceramic-bezel ones.

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

My wife has a very nice 16710 with a bright aluminum bezel. The bracelet is sized for her so unfortunately I cant wear it :(.

Stepping up from Khakis and Polos

I'm buying a number of collared short sleeve shirts for the spring/summer. Cuban collars, etc. I've purchases a few from Percival but am looking for some others as well. I also do fine in Lacoste collared/button short sleeve shirts. With the small alligator logo.

Any recommendations for good YouTube fashion content??

I've been enjoying the Blamo! podcast (and Patreon content) a lot and am wondering if there is any YouTube content that rises to approx. that level. My quick YouTube searches only turn up crap a la "10 things women hate about how men dress" as well as a lot of stuff aimed at 20-somethings who...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

On the NEW onyx dials, I really like the presence of the white veining. But what I dont like is that all the dials seem to have the same format for the white vein. I wish it was more "interesting." On the vintage all-black onyx dials, I think that allure for me would be the total absence of...

Yah some exotic dials on a vintage DD -- e.g. Stella dials -- give the piece "bling" that I really do not want. I understand Stella dials . . . and the watches can be amazing . . . but just not for me. Same can be said for some stone dials for sure.

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Dino and I are friends but even despite that yes I agree 100%. Although I still have a bit of a hankerin' for a vintage DD and there are some "interesting" dials that aren't necessarily stone. I'd not consider a champaign dial....but I hope to find an "interesting" dial that maybe isn't...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I love everything about what GS does . . . other than their bracelets, and the fact that I find their cases a little too boring. That's what's kept me from acquiring one; BEAUTIFUL dials and compelling technology, in a to-me-too-boring case and bracelet.

    Rubato

I find the Rubato shirts to be sized at the small end of the range; their L is smaller than most other makers' L I believe. I bought that shirt too but I think I'm mostly going to wear it open over a dark t-shirt.

The common mantra is, "Just wait until things slow down." When things slow down they'll just make fewer watches and I can virtually guarantee none of their ski chalets or boats will have to be sold off to buy groceries.

Indeed; for just how long do people think that ADs would buy inventory that isn't moving? The distro channels can only be stuffed but so full. And remember, AP hasn't taken all of the $ risk by going boutique-only. Many of the boutiques are at least co-owned/JV'ed, e.g. with Material Good.

    Rubato

I own the R Shirt in chambray and love it. Seems quite well made. I don't find the size to be generous at all; pretty spot on. (I own the Large.)

٭٭٭ No Man Walks Alone - Official Affiliate Thread ٭٭٭ (a.k.a. I shouldn't have slept on it)

Based on a thread by DieWorkwear on Twitter, I got a Kaptain Sunshine topcoat from NMWA a couple of months ago and I LOVE it. And Ive gotten many compliments on it. I went with the Traveller coat with the brown windowpane, black watch lining. It's just perfect for me and I think it was a very...

I think that the tank is a little big and that the Santos might be a little small. A shot of large Santos on you would help. (I kinda like the no-date . . . ). The more I think on it, that medium Santos is probably just right.

    Lightweight dress shoes

As time goes on I've gravitated more and more to the lightweight and flexible dress shoe genre. Long gone are the Aldens and even the EG are rather stiff . . . and I have no use for leather soles (I had my last pair of EGs made up with rubber soles). I very recently bought my first pair of...
