    AE worn once, even the good models, can be found for about $80 The best I could find was $120 on a pair of Burgundy/Merlot colored AE Hales.

    I figure a full size down - so size 9F. Double check with Herrings. Thanks for the response. According to Herrings size charts the US 10 is equal to the EU 43.5 and the UK 9.5, but I'm not sure I trust that all of the shoe brands Herring sells fit exactly the same in length.     Good for you. They are still not built to be around for a lifetime as a pair of lobbs or eg's are. 4 years really isn't a long time in the lifespan of a shoe +1 Most of my shoes lasted longer than that when I lived in NYC and they certainly weren't of distinguished quality.

    I like the suede loafers suggestion, unless you can find some lightly used in cordovan. There's also the option of just saving up for extra nice double strap monks.

    Great silks and cashmeres. Interlayer material a bit too dense for my liking. Perhaps, among the top 10 in the world. Does that just make for a larger knot or does it also appear to hang quite differently from your neck?
