I’ll never be as cool as Derek Smalls unfortunately.

Just started playing bass live, which is not my forte, but decided I wanted something short scale. Traded my 68 Telecaster bass for this - ultra rare short scale 1979 BC Rich Eagle. Two dimarzio P style split coil pickups, and a whole bunch of switching options. To be honest I’m not sure what...

I think some of the Gibson arch top electrics are super short scale. The Byrdland, maybe? Could always do a 3/4 LP Jr, too. Or a Rickenbacker 325!

It’s a refin but otherwise original. I didn’t actually find out the Badfinger connection until after I bought it, which just made it a million times cooler.

Gibson’s are shorter scale length, doesn’t that mean the frets are closer together? That’s why I prefer Gibson necks as well. Here’s what I got in the mail today - Joey Molland’s (Badfinger) ‘65 SG:

It’s pretty perfect for Albert King, but I don’t plan on restringing upside down! I’ve sold a bunch of guitars on Reverb, and it’s been pretty painless. You may get some low ball offers (it’s really a buyer’s market on Reverb) but it’s very easy to put things up and track how many views and...

Wow they were priced at $8000 each! I feel like you can find nice clean examples for $4500 if you look hard... And the Victoria’s were also priced pretty darn high.

Speaking of Reverb, any recommendations on what to get from this, Gus? https://reverb.com/news/shop-preview-the-official-reverb-green-day-garage-sale?utm_campaign=1612019_bloggreendayshop&utm_medium=YT&utm_source=YT

It’s a ‘75 Rocket Roll that someone modded to be more like a Gibson. Klusons, the Gibson logo put on, Gibson buckers (a patent and a Tarback). The price was pretty good and it’s a good, easy player, perfect for a new band I’m starting.

I don't think you can keep the nibs if you refret. That's usually the way to tell if an LP has original frets, no? I think fret size is totally dependent on the type of music you play. I imagine if you played jazz, a fretless wonder would be ideal for you.

I just went for Stew Mac tall frets. I really just like the extra height these days, especially on a Les Paul where you should be able to vibrato and hold a note forever.

I finally did a refret on my old Les Paul and it was totally worth it. Now I want to refret everything!
