    Filson Bag Thread: With Pictures

I have one of the lunch coolers above and use it almost daily. Great to carry lunch in.

Where it says 1113 is November 2013. Great bag and a good deal. I like the old “might as well have the best tag”. I have had a 256 since 2010 and love it.

Glad it’s working for you! I haven’t participated much, but here is the duffel I traded to for the Pullman above and my wife’s Filson backpack. Both of these are fantastic travel items and the pics below are from a recent weekend run we made.

I am also firmly in the no group on the overpriced leather pack and fabric handle bags. I won't rehash what's been said about prices and becoming a lifestyle brand many times before.

The downfall of the Filson duffles to me is the narrow straight single zip opening. The mason type opens up much more and is easier to use. I'd prefer just a more squared off top profile and a U shaped zipper, which was basically like the old travel bags, I think they were called. I have...

Glad it's working for you, MG. I like the snap handles on all my bags, personal preference I guess. I'll have to post pics of my trade sometime. So far I have transferred my hunting gear over to it. It swallows a bit more than my old Jeep branded bag I used for the same.

I used to carry refrigerated lunch in my 256 often but would transfer to to my fridge at work. No issues with that. I now use my Filson lunch cooler that works perfectly for the task and don’t carry the 256 daily.

Speedy describes my position here... for bags. The only Filson clothing I think of as the end game that I have is the Skagit Jacket. The twill bags and my lunch cooler are perfect for what they are though.

I mostly agree with what you just posted Speedy. I do like the Shorter handle length of the 242 for hard carry. The Pullman is that uncomfortable middle ground of almost too long for hand carry and too short for shoulder carry.

I also have bought eagle creek packing cubes since those pics and that cleans things up a bit.

I said I’d post a few pics of my 242. Here it is compared to my 256 from 2010 and small Pullman from 2019. On the loaded pics of the 242 and Pullman, they have the same contents. I bought the 242 from GZStudio and the Pullman direct from Filson. My thoughts was that they were basically...

Catching up on old posts, haven’t been around in a while. Correction, I also have a talon 242 I got from GZ. I’ll post more later. Have been traveling with it this summer and have a couple stories. Great bag!

I picked up this pouch plus the suede snap wallet. Like you, I am pleased with both.

I have always carried my 256 and checked a nylon roller. Knife goes in the roller. Unless I forget - leading to some of my stories.

This is my daily carry for somewhere between 17-20 years. It’s been to 10 countries or so, had some very close calls at being confiscated (some funny stories there), cut everything you might imagine a knife would cut...

Someone queue the crocodile Dundee quote and I’ll post the knife I carry everyday. My dad was always a buck guy (though he has been carrying case pocket knives lately) and got me my first good folder which was a Buck 2 blade. Cut myself badly once, lost it and bought the same knife again...

I've got three or 4 Bookers boxes in there now, that pic was pretty old. The Stagg Jr has been consumed I think. Got the Blanton's from the distillery (also have a special Woodford rye that was a distillery exclusive and a signed bottle of Town Branch from the sources). A friend who owned a...
